Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t20 (10 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

Turn: (t650) J/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 players)
BB checks, Hero...

This was about the 2nd hand of the tourney, I really didn't have any reads. While that turn card improved my hand, the only logical draw got there, so I'm really not sure if I should take a free card on the turn and hope to boat up, or bet to protect against a lone /images/graemlins/spade.gif or gutshot draw.

Also, the converter screwed up, there was a limper UTG+1.

IMO your problems began PF. Deap stacked, you are certainly calling PF (some will advocate folding). But IMO, your hand isn't strong enough to "raise for value" here against an EP limper. If the idea was to raise to ensure position, a smaller t75/90'ish raise would likely accomplish the same thing for you - having a profound effect on the maneuverability on both a whiffed flop, and THIS flop+turn.

Essentially you've created a pot size that is no longer manageable. A smaller raise PF, might find you still HU, but with a pot 3/4ths the size on the flop...much smaller yet on the turn -- giving you other options facing this situation.

Here? I don't know that you can adequately represent again...unfortunately - nor do I think we want to. I agree that considering his PF call, the cold-call on this broadway flop, you are likely behind. Had we been faced with a much smaller turn pot, I don't hate the idea of protecting - getting us hopefully a free showdown (or a less expensive exit to a push). This not being the case, I would check behind here, willing to call a MODEST value bet on the river.

Your large raise preflop bloats the pot and makes things harder to play postflop, as you can see on the turn.

The A, K, and J of spades are all on the board. What range do you put him on when he calls a large raise out of the BB? Is it likely he makes a flush considering the cards that are dead?

I should have mentioned that this is a 10+1 on UB.

I bet like T450 on the turn, he called. River came T /images/graemlins/club.gif, it went check/check, he shows ATo for a worse two pair and I rake the pot.
