He gave Spiderman a thumbs down. He didn't like Lord of the Rings, either. Why, he even dismissed Van Wilder!

I still like reading his reviews or watching his show. I just accept that he doesn't accurately reflect what I like to watch (or judging by box office performance, what the vast majority of people like to watch).

thats funny because i think he is too soft on most movies. i also admit that i did not like lord of the rings despite the fact thati love peter jackson. dead alive is one of the best cult movies ever, right up there with reanimator. well maybe not that good.

Ebert's Phantom Menace review (which I recall as 4 stars but now appears as 3.5 stars (the link is below)) was ridiculous. That movie was plain bad.

I thinks Ebert gave LoTR 3 stars. It wasn't a pan, but I do agree that LoTR was better than Ebert thought it was.

"The difference is that Lucas' visuals are more fanciful and his film's energy level is more cheerful; he doesn't share the prevailing view that the future is a dark and lonely place."

did he forget that these stories take place 'A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away?'
