i bought a $100 bet that the buccs would win the superbowl at 45:1. Somewhere in october it was up to 17:1. not sure where it is now.

hypothetically a friend mentioned that i could sell this 45:1 ticket, if someone were to want it, and sell it for a fraction of what it is valued at at the time of the sale. i'm not going to sell it, as i hope to make $4,500 off the ticket.

bad bet or not, does anyone have any idea about this? was just curious...

This is pretty close I would say. I would put TB around 60% to make the playoffs. That would be most likely as a wild card. They would have to go to Chicago, Carolina, or NY Giants in round 1, then play rested Seattle or one of those teams should they win also on the road. Then NFC Championship on road as sizable dog. Then play a superior team in the Super Bowl. Whether that will happen enough to make 45-1 profitable is your call.

I can get 59-1 about the Buccs at the moment.

This means that if I wanted your ticket, the right value would be $4500/60, or $75 that would give me 4425-75 odds which would be my 59-1.

I wouldn't expect to cash that ticket if I were you.

Lori gave you what would probably be considered a reasonable price. If you can get more than $100, that seems like a good +EV situation and I'd take it. Not much fun though. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Their starting quarterback is Chris Simms. That's all you need to know that the Bucs wont make it to Superbowl XL.
