View Full Version : Could i do something else here?

I'll describe my thought process after the flop.
If the original raiser calls,i would reraise to about 24 $,since i don't want 2 ppl drawing to flush or to whatever they have.
He folded,so i am left with only one opponent.
Since he was an early position and had to bet first,i put him either on a10 or on overpair like jacks or queens.Unlikely,he was bluffing.
Since he only called and didn't bet or rereraised preflop,i doubted he has kings or aces.I beat those as well anyway.
If he has only flush draw - higly doubtful that he'll bet, since he could be reraised by the preflop raiser.
So,i have him on the flop for sure.
With 1010,he'd almost certainly check and then reraise the probable bettor.
My plan was to smooth call him,set a trap and then reraise him on the turn and make him pot commited or take the pot right there.
When meaningless 6 came on the turn,i reraised him,but he went all in.
I thought about it for a moment, but since i thought,my hand was still the best - i called.
To my shock - he showed me 66!!!
Now - was that a totally unlucky turn for me or should i have just reraised him on the flop and win a much smaller pot than i planned too?
Easy decision looking back, but who knew,he'd bet out a small pair and get his magical set the next card?
Anyway, the question is - could i have played better here?

nh, tough break.

First, don't give results in the thread itself, you'll get unbiased opinions that way. Secondly, if you stick around and post hands regularly here learn how to format them. Either find a hand converter that works for your site, or look at a hand thread that I have started discussing one of my hands. My site doesn't have a hand converter but I take the few extra minutes to make it look like it went thru a converter so people can read it easily. Hands like you have in your post get very little response historically around here.

As for the hand, it's a decent plan to run a trap. I'm sure we've all done it from time to time and made nice profits because of it, so there's no sense in faulting you for that. I will point out one error though. Your turn raise is a minraise. Make a real raise there with what you have to assume is the best hand.

You ran a trap, and he sucked out on you. Bad break.
