How did this pot get so big?

I ended up risking far more of my stack than I should have in this pot.

Is the pre-flop raise terrible? I want to try and liven the table up a little but I'm way out of position with KQo.

Is the pre-flop call poor with one caller left to act?

How about the flop bet into an empty side pot? I was looking for him to fold, presuming myself likely to be ahead of the all-in short stack.

With his call, I just check the rag on the turn and am surprised by his small bet, though if he flopped the straight he may be betting $6 now to get the rest in on the river. I just decided to put him all in anyway.

Flame away. I only post hands I think I played poorly. After the flop bet and villian's call I thought the pot was just too big to fold. I felt sick going to showdown.

PF: think, I don't play KQo unless its suited.

No sense in not getting MP1 AI since he's short. I would have bet 2/3 on the flop.

A better player will get you off of your flop bet.

You need to bet more here. With his stack though, if he likes his hand it's getting all in regardless.

As for KQo up front, I usually limp or fold it.

I am not too fond of raising this in EP when 8 handed. I am also not sure what you are looking to accomplish with the turn c/r, but that does not really matter much considering his stack size. Just set him in on the turn. Hopefully your not drawing to a chop.

Thanks for the replies. I think it was my pre-flop play here caused me all kinds of trouble. The pre-flop raise was a lack of patience I think. However, given my early position raise, should I re-raise MP2's all-in raise to get rid of MP1? I think I'm likely ahead of MP2 - his all-in after a raise and call looks lack a last ditch attempt to win a 'decent' pot. If I raise again MP1 will fold without something special and I'll easy get away from the hand if I'm raised by MP1 slow playing a monster, or if I'm called and don't make at least 2-pair on the flop. Thoughts?

You're behind to any pocket pair, aren't you? KQo just can't take this kind of heat; I never raise it full ring from UTG+1. Versus MP2's all-in I would curse myself for having raised to start with, and fold it. If MP1 has a hand he'll skin you alive.

I would only even *consider* calling the preflop all-in if I were sure it would just be me vs. shortstack; never with someone else still in the hand.

I see where you're coming from. I thought it was bad as soon as I saw MP2 call behind me. However, my poor play was rewarded when both villians showed me their KJ and MHIG /images/graemlins/grin.gif. However, I realise how lucky I was here, I'm not going to let lack of patience put me in this kind of trouble post flop again (I hope) /images/graemlins/smirk.gif.
