How long has the R&R HOF been around that some of these aren't in already, and how the [censored] is Miles "rock" (Miles rules, but like... wtf?)

All deserved. Its not like they have ballots and waiting lists for this, right?

Will Lydon even show for this?

The R&R HOF has very "loose" criteria in terms of entry. Wait until hip-hop/rap acts start getting in...

I liked Blondie in the late 70's. HOF material? NFW NFW NFW NFW NFW NFW.

I'm not very fluent in the rules for being inducted but I think the rule is that 25 years after the first album, the artist becomes eligible. So it appears some of these guys have been waiting a couple years, at least.

It certainly doesn't sound like it's going to be a great show.

Blondie was pretty influential on the new-wave thing that happened in the late 70's/early 80's, no? Plus, they were on the periphery of the Ramones/New York Dolls scene, so that may have been the reasoning.

The Beatles didn't make it until Year 3. Al Green and Gladys Knight are in. I guess I really don't know what rock music is.

As others have said, all but Blondie are obvious shoo-ins.

Well...it also probably depends on when the people being inducted can actually make it to the ceremony. Paul/George/Ringo were probably too busy in years 1-2 to be bothered.

Dammit, the Stooges got screwed again.

As far as hip-hop goes, it will get in eventually. It's just a matter of the old white men finally putting in someone like Grandmaster Flash or Run DMC. Once that happens, more and more acts will start getting in.

As someone said above, they do wait until 25 years after the first release of a particular artist to induct them. There is a nomination process, though it is pretty loose. They then choose inductees from this list (of 30 or so, maybe?) I do not believe there is a limit on a number of inductees in any given year, but I'll have to double check that with my friend who worked at the Rock hall.

I can't think of anything less Rock and Roll than an induction ceremony.

quite true. I personally have no problem with Blondie as an inductee.
Plus Deb Harry used to be quite hot. Hot female lead singers should be a category.

Just noticed that Dusty Springfield was inducted in '99. So nevermind, just throw the doors open and let them all in.

The fact that Sabbath didn't make the HOF until 35 yrs after their 1st album illegitimizes this joke of an institution. There is no excuse for this oversight.

Rush should be in it too but I guess they are too "nerdy" for the HOF. Van Halen should be in it if only for probably the most influential guitarist since Hendrix.

Rush should not be in it. Based on who else is already in there or set to be in you can make a case for them, but they really shouldn't be.

"George Harrison (The Beatles, solo career)"

Seriously?

I like his solo stuff, but is this trying to suggest that he would have got in simply on the merit of that alone?

All Things Must Past and Cloud Nine were decent enough albums, but yes, he really did not have a substantial solo body of work.

as far as I'm concerned, if THE CARS aren't inducted, then life sucks.
