I have a Dell computer purchased in the past year with a Phillips +-RW DVD drive that came with Cyberlink Power DVD playing software. Normally this program works fine playing movies. I recently purchased a multidisk set (commercial mainstream producer) that played fine for a while, but then on a certain disk I had been playing now won't play nor will the other disks in the set. The disks don't seem to be damaged and when inserted, the drive just makes a thumping noise but the disk never spins or autoplays. If I stick a different movie in it plays fine.

I am not very familiar with the DVD encoding schemes and don't know if this is causing the problem. I also was wondering if the software kept track of movies watched and the points they were exited or something but can't find any files for same. I also am unsure if the DVD player has some kind of onboard memory so I turned off the computer and unplugged it, but still same problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

woh, weird... only a certain disc you say?

Try cleaning the disc, try one of the commercial DVD cleaners in your drive.

LOL I don't watch porn. The set is the old miniseries North & South Books 1-3. I remember liking it a lot when it came out and bought it recently when they released on DVD. As for cleaning, since this problem is only so far affecting the set in question, then I don't think that is the anwwer. Anyone else?
