View Full Version : Call push with AK on bubble?

11-28-2005, 01:41 AM
Me and one other guy are small stacks (3xBB). Mid stack pushes. I have AK. He has been pushing alot.

I dont have SNGPT so not sure if +EV to call.

You mean SNGPT (sit n go power tools). That's what does these calcs for you. Learning to do the ICM calcuation by hand is always an option.

I'd have to know other stack and blind sizes to make a decision here.

Instacall. You can't fold into the money, and have no FE. This is the best hand you will see.

Wait... if seat 6 is the button, who is utg? You must be a blind. That makes this even more of a call.

Yeah I was. Seems a no-brainer but I want to make sure.

You should call far worse than AK here, I'd be doing flips that I had such a great hand

Very easy call. You need chips if you want a chance at top 2 and this is where the money is anyway. Having AK and a solid chance to finish in the top 2 if you hit should make this an instacall.

This is pretty bad thinking, and not why it's a call

you're massive favourite against Ax
you're decent favourite against two other unpaired cards
you're about 45% down against pocket pair

you've gotta call this - you're not going to see anything better in your next couple of hands.

if you don't call on this, what are you hoping for? AA? KK?

It's a call but not because you are playing for 1st or 2nd here, both are pretty unlikely anyway. If I could get 3rd every time I have ~2bb left at 200/400 on the bubble I'd be most pleased.
