Simple Cell Phone Question

I bought my current phone locked. I have an AT&T SIM card. If I buy a cheapo unlocked Nextel on eBay that supports AT&T SIM cards, will the phone work? I don't care if I lose my phone numbers, I just need to know if I will have a new working phone.

If the phone you are buying truly does accept AT&T simcards, and you are using an existing AT&T simcard, then yes, it will work.

Nextel is an iDen network and AT&T and Cingular are not. So there are not many phones that will work on both. Get a cheap unlocked GSM phone such as Cingular/T-Mobile/AT&T instead.

Woops, totally meant Nextel = Nokia. The phone on eBay I just bid on is an unlocked GSM phone.
