Online 8/16 HE. I open limp UTG+1 w/T9s. Next player pops it, button 3 bets and I fold. Am I a wuss?
Needless to say flop had a T and a 9. Button beat UTG +2 w/KK against QQ. I am hoping that I made the correct play preflop.

What do you think?

If your hand would NOT have been the winner, would you still be posting this? Stop being results oriented.

Absolutely the correct decision was made here by you.

Roy,

An obvious fold and it isn't close. But if the game is the least bit aggressive, you shouldn't open limp with middle suited hands.

I agree with you Rick. The game was actually somewhat average, neither aggressive or passive. The preflop aggression in this hand was unusual for this particular session.

I think it's important early on to figure out what your goals are at the table.

If your main goal is to accumulate chips, then you certainly made the right call.

If your main goal is to win as many pots as you can, then you should have popped it, hoping to drive out the first raiser. Then all you'd have to do is outdraw one player with a far superior hand.

10 9 suited is a great hand to play if you are just trying to win as many pots as possible without regard to how much money you lose in the process. It's a fun hand and has many possibilities.

Unfortunately it ain't gonna win you much $, especially UTG +1.

In my opinion you did the right thing. Maybe throwing the first bet in (with you being in such an early position) is questionable, but folding after it being 3 bet is the right choice.
