I got the weekly popup again saying i'm Top400 on the Leaderboard. So i decided to finally click on the link to check my points. Then looked at the Leaderboard RULES. (https://secure.partypoker.com/my_account/leader_board/tournament_leaderboard_nov.html)

1) points only for top 20% of the Tourny field. so for a single table sng, you only get points for 1st and 2nd. hm.. 2 and 3 table SnGs better?

2) $5000 bonus for monthly Leaderboard point winner. /images/graemlins/ooo.gif For Nov, it looks like it'll be KiepDoDen04 with 43174 points. 2nd closest is losyara007 with 34625.

Who are they and what do they play?!

(Winning a $109 SnG get you 97 points according to Party's point calculator.)

3) They combined the single table and multi-table leaderboards? I liked it better when it was separate. (Just my opinion.)

4) A few players in the Top100 are $50+5 players. You get 82 points for winning a $55.

To get 11k points (~100th spot), you need to win 135 SnGs. If 1st place finishes ~15%, so thats 900 SnGs in a month.

for the #1 spot, you need 4x that, so 3600 SnGs. that's 12hrs/day 10 tabling /images/graemlins/ooo.gif hm.. Raptor comes to mind /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hm.. raptor's best is something like 176 a day, 20 tabling, I think. He's lazy man /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

A while ago juicyv_gina was doing good on the leaderboard, and he played $22's??

2) Party gives money to the Top 100. link here (https://secure.partypoker.com/my_account/leader_board/leaderboardm.htm)

4) A lot of the 55 players in the top 100 aren't even that great IMO. i.e. Green_Smurf, badbeats_com, Frozen_acct. They probably just play a ridiculous amount.

well the 2 and 3 table sngs have more points available per dollar invested (as do the mtts) but they run infrequently.

i think that kiep plays the 200s, i don't know losyara but i think i saw him at the 200s as well. i don' think either is a 2+2er. you should understand that the relation between buyin and points isn't linear. so winning a 100 is not 2x more points than winning a 50.

party has always had this system. it was empire that was two leaderboards.

KiepDoDen plays a ridiculous amount of $215s. Obviously, there is only a small correlation between leaderboard ranking and skill though.

I am # 7 right now and I have been taking it pretty easy all month, only puttin in about 70 or so $109s and $55s each day. I thiiink I am going to go crazy next month and play about 125 $55s a day which is about what it will take to get 1st.

I played 40 $55's today and I'm proud of that. I should learn some discipline. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

(btw, i just screwed up what could've been my best session ever... at one point i had 5 (of 7) tables with over 2k in chips, was doing really good, and didnt make one first, and one second. ah well..)

I see you at my tables all the time... i'll be sure to try to stay away, although that may be impossible considering how much you play ;]

Dont forget that MTT's factor in too. With the larger fields there are some hefty points given out for winning these.

Just to demonstrate how little the leaderboard means, I will make the top 5 in either december or january playing $20s, $30s, & small MTTs. I will take prop bets on this up to $400 total.

I'll take that bet for $400. You can pick the month and who holds the money if you think that is necessary.

And I'll trust that you will be the only one playing on the account.

Edited: just read that you said either month, that's fine.

but you only get points for 1st or 2nd in a single table SnG. Since he's ranked #1 on the leaderboard, doesnt that mean he's won ALOT of 1st and 2nd places at the $215's?

Newt_Buggs
11-27-2005, 09:46 PM
yeah, but that just means that he plays more. Not that anyone can easily tell which good players are better than others, but IME all of the other $215 players in the top 10 are better.
