I'm thinking of playing the Lucky Chances 50+5, no buy-in Limit HE tourney tomorrow. This will be my first tourney in a Casino (I've played sit & go's online and a few Home tourneys).

Any advice, comments on the way things are run there? I've never been to LC before.

I'm guessing because it's the 4th, the number of entrants might be high. I'd like to get some tourney experience and figure $55 is not too high a price for education. I'd be happy to last a few rounds, escatic if I could make it in the money.

Thanks in advanced,
Tank

Tank -

Was a regular at Lucky Chances for most of last year and the first couple of months of this year - moved online to be at home with a pregnant wife...

Anyways, unless they've changed it in the last few months, the buy-in gets you 1000 in TC, and blinds start at 25-25. They increase every 15 minutes, and by the end of round 4 are at 75-150. The main reason I stopped playing in these limit tourneys is you don't get a lot of play for your buy-in. Especially if you're used to playing online, where you can get up to twice as many hands in in an hour, the 15 minutes can go by real fast. It's pretty much one orbit per 15-minute level, so you'll have to make some kind of a move in round 3 or 4 at the latest. My advice would be to play classic tight-aggressive tourney poker - the quality of the players in the tourney will likely be average...

Matt Savage (WSOP Tourney director) used to run the tourneys at LC, but moved down the road to Bay 101. Don't know who's running the tourneys now, but most of the staff there is competent.

They tend to have extremely large Bad Beat Jackpots for live Holdem, if you're interested. A couple of times when i was playing there they topped $100,000.

Anyways, good luck - post a report afterwards!

Cheers...
