View Full Version : Hand Rankings in category/order

Let me apologize in advance if this has been posted before (I am sure it has), I am looking for a table that lists the hand rankings in order, and then breaks them down in the Sklansky et al categories.

I wasn't able to find one through the search function, and the FAQ provides a marginally useful Excel spreadsheet (I'm not looking for when to raise and so forth, just the hand rankings themselves).

Once again, apologies in advance since this is surely well covered ground, I just can't find where it is...!

I think it's near the front of Hold'Em Poker for the Advanced Player, but my copy is in my car so I can't give you the exact pages.

It sounds like you're looking for this (http://www.gocee.com/poker/HE_Value.htm).

The material presented at the link posted above is debatable. How was the simulation structured? Were tightness of game and levels of aggression considered? If so, how? A simple simulation might well look similar to the table suggested in this link; the fact that it does not indicate the method used to "play" out the hands renders the chart suspect, in my opinion.

A much better rehash of sklansky's starting group categories, with appropriate discussion of the strategy employed, is to be found at: www.cs.cmu.edu/People/mummert/poker/ (http://www.cs.cmu.edu/People/mummert/poker/)

There is also a discussion of Sklansky's preflop criteria and a suggested replacement in abdul's preflop guide. I don't have the link to hand, but it's mentioned here in the micro limit forum. A Google of the above three words will find it for you, as I did that Google a few days ago from work, no problem.

Myself, I am most impressed with the data presented at the link I have included above. Give it a shot.
