View Full Version : Best Christmas Movie ever

Keeping it simple. No knockout, just one poll. I combine sequels (Home Alone, Die Hard), so a vote for this means a vote for either. If I missed anything, too bad.

You can vote for as many as you like, so have fun.

Bonus question - what have the first and last choice got in common that the others haven't?

You have die hard and bridget jones et al but left off pocketful of miricles? wtf?

edit - I am pretty sure it was set at christmas time, if not I'll feel pretty silly. Certainly has a traditional christmas movie feel.

you wrote 'Poketful of Miricles', which returned no results in imdb, so I dismissed it.

Anyway, you can't edit poll lists, and I'm not gonna redo it all, so there you go. (White Christmas fell due to miscounting candidates, and it was last alphabetically).

yes, it does (http://www.imdb.com/find?q=Poketful%20of%20Miricles;s=all)

Edit - IMDB is taking forever to pull stuff up today (for me at least). This is Frank Capra's final film.

You missed The Ref.

How do you miss The Ref? I would have given you a pass on forgetting some minor christmas movie since I try not to be a nit about missing options, but then you go and forget to put in The Ref.

That's like doing a "best porno" poll and leaving out Breastman's Ultimate Orgy 15.

Lots of good films and results so far, but the fact that Scrooged and Planes Trains and Automobiles are not doing better is about as depressing as the "best invention" poll not coming up trumps for the Wheel.

Actually fnord, I just noticed your Sisyphan avatar - seems entirely congruous with trying to get a perfect listing for 'Christmas' films! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I gotta go with It's a Wonderful Life. That movie is just awesome.

My favourite christmas movie is, believe it or not, the abysmal remake of A Christmas Carol called An American Christmas Carol with Henry Winkler as Scrooge, in this one called Benedict Slade. This came out around 1980 and Fonzie was running around in depression era America repossessing poor people's furniture. Actually has some pretty good flashback subplots about Fonzie bitching to his boss/fatherinlaw about moving the business to the new-fangled production line methods. ..... Ah, there is no real way to justify this steaming pile, but I like it.

Diebitter, I'm surprised you forgot this one.

Yeah, I have it too.

Mine's a Mystery Science Theater 3000 one though. Not really purist, so I'm a little ashamed /images/graemlins/blush.gif

I have to say, I think the 'throw em all up and see what comes out' approach has worked well here, unlike the James Bond one, where view to a kill is only just trailing OHMSS (WTF!)

Weird, huh?
