I just watched a hand where a guy hit a 7 on the river to take a pot with 72o. My question is: when someone is so loose that they'll play 72o, but not so loose that they play every hand, what exactly do they have when they fold pre-flop?!

I limp with 7 /forums/images/icons/spade.gif 2 /forums/images/icons/diamond.gif
I raise 7 /forums/images/icons/heart.gif 2 /forums/images/icons/club.gif (cuz nobody expects it)
I fold 7 /forums/images/icons/diamond.gif 2 /forums/images/icons/heart.gif (too many red cards, everyone knows black beats red)
7 /forums/images/icons/club.gif 2 /forums/images/icons/spade.gif - this is a tough one, it depends on the texture of the game.

The one time I voluntarily put money into the pot with 72o I won a 13BB pot /forums/images/icons/grin.gif with my 7 high.

I haven't tried it again.

Recently, in a b&m 3-6 (only game in town) the guy who I think is the best in my area raised p.f. with 74s, collecting when 4-4 came running. Of course I payed him off with my kings, ace kicker (AKo). He surprised the @#@$@ out of me.
If you look at stats of profitability for each hand (such as from pokerroom.com) you'll see that there isn't much difference between hands that are only somewhat bad and those that are near the bottom of the barrell. It seems to me that if you want to mix in some "shock and awe" hands, you are better off getting completely under the radar of your opponents. Not that I have the balls to play that way (yet).

23o.

I lost a huge pot to 82s that limped UTG. I kept telling myself, "raise, he can't have a 2..."

Yeah, I called, after TELLING my opponent that he didn't have a 4!

They have to go to the restroom. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

A few months back I played against someone who was so drunk he couldn't play any hands, he'd get his cards, struggle to look at them, and mucked them. This went on for like 5 orbits before I left.
