You get 2 HDMI inputs?

You bastard!

Now you just need the ultimate accessory (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16880100712). Congrats.

nice - I went with the Sony 55A20 myself - any reason you would have gone with Hitachi besides price?

Well, two HDMI inputs WOULD be nice - I think I need to find a box that'll double them up and then I can switch between the two..

definitely price! I couldn't afford the really nice Sony - and I wanted a BIG picture. little less screen door on the Sony, but I'm sitting at least 6 feet away, so that difference was minimal. A comparable Sony was $3800....to rich for me - especially since I used Circuit City's credit card with thew 18 months of no interest! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

So, if all I watch is sports, reruns of crack/cocaine law and order (Ice-T better win a fckin emmy), and arrested development dvd's, is it worth having that type of tv.? I know nothing about this.

I had plasma and was getting video game burn-in so I returned it.

I'm not having a major issue with SDE but deep down I feel that it's pretty obvious the quality isn't up to Plasma yet and not really close to DLP.

my next TV will be one of those big projection TV's that give me 2.35-1 HDTV - I'm gonna build a projection room, in other words...

someday....or else buy a cheap plasma for TV and keep the LCD for video games/computers - /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice purchase....enjoy.

I'm now the proud owner of some new 42" Plasma HDTV... I feel your joy. Unfortunately, I'm not unwrapping mine for a while since I'm moving out of my apartment in like a month. There will be a testing ceremony this week to make sure I didn't get a dud though.

Next bad-ass accessory, a new surround sound system.

for dvr owners, the harmony 680 blows the 880 away because of buttons.

the 680 is the 'media center' version, but the play/ff/rw/etc buttons are around the center and highly accessible. the 676 is basically the same model which is sold in regular stores, but the button layout is worse. the 880 has a crappy button layout and there's no tactile feel for the buttons. it's just a flat row with no distinction other than a couple pips, and it's not the kind of thing that you want to use in the dark. people who are coming from a real tivo remote like me will probably be equally intolerant of the usability issues it has.

http://www.badbeat.com/tmp/harmony.jpg - 680 on the right, 676 on the left

i picked up an 880 when i bought my hdtv, returned it, and picked up a 680 for over $100 less. i've seen the 680s go around $100 a lot.

I have the E50A10 - was thinking about a 50" Panasonic plasma, but decided to go the ($1500 difference) cheaper route, and got mine for $2400 or so incl. 5 yr warranty. I do see some SDE on occasion, but it doesn't ruin the experience that much and I think the money I saved justified it.

I was initially worried 50" would be too small, but once I actually got the thing in my living room it's gigantic. So, I'm a happy camper. In a few years when I hopefully have a lot more money due to some game people play with plastic rectangles (and a job, that might help) I might spring for one of the 1080p Sony SXRDs...man those look sweet.

I got a new TV today, too, but I'm poor so it was a $250 32"

I'm buying a biggun very soon. I need to know what screen door effect is and how it should affect my purchase.

Since I and approximately 50% of OOTers are in the market for these, please everybody keep us updated on your TVs when you get them and beyond. The AVS forums are way too egghead for me, I need short words and lots of pictures.

Thanks for this. I've been trying to figure out what remote to buy.
Guess I'll look for a 680.

I also just bought one of these (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000637RN4/002-1094169-1892816?v=glance&n=172282&n=507846&s=electronics&v =glance) since they were on sale:
Belkin PureAV Power Console PF60; 13 outlet programmable

Now I just need a nice rack/shelf/stand/whatever to put all my components on next to this:
