* continue to play .5/1 serious 2+2games, and not let the smaller stakes affect my play
* continue getting coaching, and spend more time talking with other successful midlimit players
* don't have a 400+BB downswing /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Be beating 2/4(higher, hopefully...but I would be happy with 2/4)
Win one MTT
Make 5K(might not seem like a lot, but this would be awesome to me)

11-25-2005, 12:55 PM
I want to:

* Not suck at poker
* Seriously, I want to get to the point where I know my play is EV+
* Be comfortable in live games (local cardrooms & Vegas)
* Learn stud.
* Have pushed myself, including higher limits and more tournaments.
* Not lose the enjoyment factor, which is the whole reason I play

Note that I have no money-related goals. I don't expect to make money playing poker, but if it happens it would be nice.

At the beginning of this year I had $100 for a poker roll and my goal was to be playing 3/6 full time by the end of the year and make enough money for freshman year of college. Nailed both.

2006 Goals:
- Play 20/40 full time
- Make at least 30k over the summer
- Bench 200 lbs.
- Reach the FT at a Sunday tournament

I want to move up to playing the $1/$2 tables and hopefully pull in about $100/month or so consistently. Modest goals I know, but really I have been playing for the competition. To get a small monthly bonus would be a nice thing for me to get out of playing a game.

11-25-2005, 08:50 PM
- Play less poker (I've been doing pretty good at this lately, but I was playing 100 hours/month, which is just way too much)
- Make enough $$$ to finish pay off my credit cards, buy a plasma screen TV, and finance one trip to Vegas
- Move up in limits

* Beating 10/20 6-max.
* Make enough money to not work through the summer or next year.
* When I play live I'd like to play 20/40 or 15/30.
* Learn how to actually play NL, not just donate money slowly.
* Have a bankroll big enough so that I can have as much fun on the weekends as I want to without a job.
* Learn how to reduce my tilt a great deal.

1) Move closer to that Ph.D that's still sitting some distance away
2) Get another 5000 hands of 1/2 5-max at Paradise under my belt to bring me up to 10000
3) Move up to the 2/4 full ring game and get some 5000 hands there
4) Continue my recently started venture into Stud/8 (.25/.50) and have 3000 hands played

It continually surprises people (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=0&Number=3835129). With respect to "higher", it's hard to have a large bankroll when you don't play very often. Poker is just a casual game for me.

There is also a little testimony here about how much you can actually learn at the micros if you would just pay attention to what's going on at the table. Everyone is always in a hurry to move up in stakes, but stakes alone will not drive your development as a player.
