Hey, I don't know if this is the right forum to post this in, but at my last home game, one of the players posed this question and I couldn't come up with more than a rough estimate.

In our tournament structure, how often would a top tournament pro (I'm talking Ivey, Juanda, etc) be able to make the money? How often would they be able to win? I don't have enough of a tourney sample in this home game to have real answers, so I was just using the 41% in the money I have in the Party SNGs as a benchmark.

Our home tourneys are usually 10 players. $100 buy in. Pay out top 3. The blind structure is as follows: $100 in chips. Blinds go up every 20 minutes and start at:
.25/.50
.5/1
.75/1.50
1/2
1.5/3
2/4
2.5/5
3/6
4/8
5/10
6/12
7/14
8/16
9/18
10/20 (capped)

I'd say that of everyone in our player pool, there are 2 real good tight aggressive players who know how to mix it up. Then there are 2 tight passives. One real good LAG. Everyone else is a donk LAG.

Anyone have a guess as to what the max. attainable is?

30-40%

Looks a good structure and standard equivalent to a party 33 or 55.

How is this equivilent to a party 55? The blinds go up much slower and are capped at a lower % of the total chips in play. A good player is going to have a lot more play in this format than a party SNG.

Sorry, I meant the standard.

I think the good structure increases the ROI from the usual 15-20 or so up to the figure I gave.

I play a similar format with my friends and with the blinds at 15 mins, it sometimes seems faster than the party format. We are all drinking and joking around, we all shuffle and deal slow, sometimes it seems like we only play 4-5 hands per level. Depends on how serious the players are i think.
