Any locals have any suggestions here? I am buying a new car, either a Civic or a Taurus, and the best quote I have gotten is from 20th Century, at $1709 for six months. On my graduate stipend, this insurance is not affordable, and I need to find something cheaper, though I'm not sure if I can.
Also, does anybody know what the practical effects of putting the car under my aunt's name in order to get a much cheaper rate would be? (She is a schoolteacher.)
Thanks for any help.

That quote is WAY too high. Try one of the links below for instant online quotes:
Insweb (https://secure1.insweb.com/cgi-bin/auto.exe?id=JyVA8AoQsNyEdwlVAeKvacvf3sL)
Moneycentral (http://moneycentral.msn.com/marketplace/selectState.asp?iMarketID=8&CP=)
Quoteseek (http://www.quoteseek.com/)
As for putting the auto in your aunts name that may help but do you have a poor driving record? If so you being an additional driver will keep the rates pretty darn high anyway. Buting a Toyota Corolla would be a better decision than the Taurus or Civic, Safer, more reliable, same price range and lower insurance rates.
Good luck,

Jimbo,
Thanks a lot for the information.
I have two tickets in the last five years, for going 5 over the speed limit and for making an illegal turn.
I am under 25 years old; this hurts me a lot.
I will check out the Corolla.

Holy Smokes!!! Do you have a DUI or something? $1709 for six months? try GEICO. I've never had any complaints.
