I didn't have any, but if I did, they would probably look something like this:

Make more money than 2004: failed
Play more hours than 2004: failed
Play big live tournaments: failed
Play sats for big live tournaments: failed
Play online tournaments: failed

Edited to add: These are now my 2006 poker goals.

I've achieved my original goal, and hopefully will reach my 2nd goal tonight. My 3rd goal I hope to reach by year's end. One thing (like El D) that I haven't done is play more tournaments. I played one satellite for a WPT event, and the WSOP event I wanted to play was sold out. I have a hard time justifying playing tournaments nowadays.

Failed miserably.

Goal was to make $60K this year.
I had $51K as of June 1st.
Now I have $8K. (+ I spent about $8K).

I have succeeded greatly, and as result, failed miserably.

That is, I landed a good enough job that spending lots of time on poker is -EV. Most of my play since March has been helping my little brother clear random bonuses. I do miss the game occasionally /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Ive learnt to play poker in mid january this year (before I didnt know if str8 beat 3 of a kind and hadnt heard the word "holdem"). My goal after a month was to make 5k...
With little luck I will hit 100k at the end of this year so I guess I achieved my goals.
2006 will be much harder though...

Totally sucks, I put my goals post in the micro section and that isn't archived as well I guess.

I am a bit short currently on the money goal, but it will be a close race, I'm gonna need some good solid days but I have some unplanned vacations coming up. I'm still very happy and accomplished or passed some I never thought I would.

As always, a gambler is never happy. I wanted to play a lot of live tournaments, and play regualrly above $15/$30. Well, I played a few tournaments - cashed in a few, but overall barely broke even.

As for live game (and online), I played some higher limit NL (up to $10/$25 blind live) and did fine. However, after starting well at $30/$60, I took a few wild rides - all downhill. Thirty-sixty and me, not very good company.

I should be happy, but I always want more. Good luck to everybody in the last 5 weeks of the year.

ive been pretty down in the mouth about failing miserably at putting in hours since the summer, but at the beginning of 2005 i didnt expect to be where i am now so maybe i accomplishmed my goals.

Right where I wanted to be in terms of everything. This year surpassed my expectations in everyway.

However I am not happy about it. As I have learned so much since January, I realise now, my expectations were too low.

This next year will be very interesting. I am not quite sure how to set goals this year.

1. Quit other gambling games and sports betting.

Well I did other gambling, but down $30k on sports betting =) though I haven't bet them in last two months.

2. Tilt less.

Almost the same, 3-4 tilt sessions this year.

3. Care less about money.

No way, I'm actually caring more about it because I began saving money for house & other stuff.

4. Enjoy more about poker.

No, I still hate this game.

5. Do enough(5k/month) from sit n gos and tournaments.

Switched back to playing mostly NL in early february and after that I have done way over my goal.

6. Win one big tournament, 1st prize >$50k

So far the biggest tournament win is $13000. But I will play some big live tournaments in December aswell as the usual online tournaments.
So maybe..

I'm honing in on $80K which was my goal for 2005. My goal for 2006 is $105K for online and B&M play combined.

My goal for the year was to pay off about $20k of college debt that just wouldn't go away by multi-tabling the party $3/6.

Well I did that, and I funded two expensive holidays, and spent a boat load more money, and I've been now running good at $20/40. Over-acheiving rules /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Didn't post them, But i guess this years goal is to be play 10/20 by end of next year(end of 2006).

I'm at .25/.50 6max having played 1/2 10max.

Hopefully be at 1/2 6max by Xmas.

Thats 1/2>2/4>3/6>5/10>10/20
4-5 jumps, If i can do one every 2months i should be at 10/20 by xmas.

Cool, Wish me luck. I'd also like to make 20K this year, See what happens. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Well I've sort of half failed. I've played 10/20 and 15/30 as was my goal, but I've dropped down numerous times, and I'm currently playing 10/20. Also it looks like I'm only gonna get about 60% of the way to my monetary goal, which I didn't write down.

If you had asked me if I had met my 1 year goals from January 1st 2005 today, I would say yes. I have beaten those with flying colors. I have failed at the goals I set in August/September so far. So I have done better this year than I thought I could hope for, but in the last couple months things haven't been going so well by the new high standards I have set for myself.

ClaytonN
11-24-2005, 07:29 PM
Well, I started on Jan 1 '05 with exactly $100 and played 1/2 limit omaha on crypto, so not going broke there was a wonderance in itself.

unfortunately I sucked in the first half of the year and could never really build a big roll. never really got above 500'ish. part of that was due to poor play, other parts due to emotional stress in getting into college.

summer, the goal was to make enough money to have stuff to spend during college. that goal was completed.

Beginning of school (early september) the goal was to reach 3/6 limit by my birthday (couple of weeks ago), if not Christmas. I plan on playing it full time starting in December. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

A college sophomore friend of mine who knows about 2+2 but doesn't post there was in the same spot I was when he was a freshman, and now he's playing 5/10 NL and making a good bit. It's a big inspiration, and I hope to get "up there" by next winter.

My goals at the first of the year were just to make 3k this year in b&m cardrooms and play some tournaments and make the money.

I didn't make a deposit until march online but I can say that I have a solid roll for multitabling 5/10 including taking out 1k a few times and my initial $50 deposit into partypoker so i'm pretty happy but that one. and I cashed for $27 in a $3 mtt on stars so I guess I completed that goal. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I didn't post in that thread, but I did have a goal for 2005.

Up until this year, I had only been playing b&m (years ago I occassionally played on Paradise, but that's beside the point). I decided that once I moved into my new house, I would start playing online (I have a more than fulltime job, so I don't get that many hours a week to play). I had been played midlimits live (mostly 20/40) for a while, but online I wanted to start small and work my way up because from the posts here, I had seen that the online games play very differently (also, at the time I wasn't comfortable putting a large amount of money online). So I was going to deposit $2k and start playing 3/6, and my goal was to never deposit more and to be comfortably multitabling 15/30 by the end of the year.

I consider this to be a success. I actually am playing 10/20 6-max instead of 15/30 because I found that I perfer the shorthanded games.

I wanted to make 40k this year, but stupid school kept getting in the way so I couldn't put in enough hours. I'm going to end up short by quite a bit, but I have managed to move up from .5/1 limit on party to taking shots at 200NL. Hopefully I can make it my full time game by the end of the year. I've got high hopes for next year because I should be living in Vegas.

I didn't post in that original thread, but I read it at the time and used it as inspiration to set goals for this year. I was playing 3/6 and 5/10 online and 15/30 live and so set goals of: Realistic goal--$50K, Ambitious goal--$100K. I also wanted to get to online 15/30 and live 30/60.

In July I reevaluated my ambitious goal and set it to $150K.

I have so far long passed all my monetary goals, and am playing 30/60 online and 80/160 live. So yeah, the year went well.

I'm not hesitant to set goals for next year because I can't see how I could possibly do any better. I'd be quite happy if I simply maintained my current success.

my only goal there was study more, play less. im having a much better semester. i never played a lot. actually im disappointed in the hours i put in. well under 500 hours according to pokertracker. but considering my hourly rate for the year without rakeback is about 3 times higher than than my appeoximate "expected" hourly for the games I was playing on Jan 1 (5/10 6m), im pretty happy. i have started posting less which is a good thing.

Did not write them in here - but I made it 95% of the way to my goals (in order of importance)

- Learned how to play online poker (was a B&M player exclusivly for 5 years) - had a couple of bad/very tilty experiences that kept me B&M before this year but was determined to make the online move. Started small (3-6) and now I am 3-4 tabling 10-20 6 max on my sweet 21” dells.
- Make a concerted effort to read and study every 2+2 book and spend lots of time reading strategy posts online – truly improve all aspects of my game (clearly not all the way there yet – but really feel that I have learned ALLOT this year)
- Earn 75K playing cards (online, off, tournaments, bonuses, etc.) – projecting to 69K now – close.

Could not have done it without this board – especially the HUSH forum – really I would be no where without the great insight and learning that is shared on a daily basis on that forum……THANKS (next year my goal will be to post more hands….)
