Pronunciation of "Malmuth"

What is the proper pronunciation of "Malmuth"?


MAL-mooth?

Mal as in maladjusted


muth as in myth

When I was in the third grade I was sent to a special speech class because my teach was convinced that I wasn't pronouncing my name correctly. It turned out I was so everything was as it should be.

Why in the world would the "u" sound like a short "i" as in myth?


Wouldn't the "u" more likely be pronounced like the short "u" in "must"? Or like the "ou" in "would"?
