A card club i visit in Palms Spring spreads a 5 card Omaha game. I am fairly new to Omaha and feel i have the basics down.

But how does the game change when you are delt 5 down cards? has any one ever played 5 card, if so how do i adjust to this type of game.

This is a very popular game in many parts of the country. The "nuts" become even more prevelant in this game, so it actually requires tighter play. (With a four card hand and a five card board, there are sixty possible poker hands; with a five card hand, the number goes to one hundred.) Don't play orphans, and have a made hand with a re-draw on 4th street. If the game is live, fine. If not, it's not worth playing.

These games can be pretty good for a while, but the learning curve is fairly steep, so they don't seem to stay juicy for long.

I agree. The odds of being up against the nuts go up significantly.

But you don't want to be drawing to second-best in any form of Omaha, particularly if you are trying for half the pot. I don't think the game is much different.
