View Full Version : "Official" Live at the Bike thread (11/22) (300/500 NL)

Tonight was scheduled to be a limit night, but they tried to get a 20/40, 8/16, and even a 6/12 limit game going, but it wasn't meant to happen. That means tonight's show will be a $300 min/$500 max NL game with 5/5 blinds. Last night was their first attempt at a NL heads-up tournament with 2 5-player teams. The first round of matches seemed to go a bit too fast with the rules forcing a max of 16 hands. The final match between Ed and Corp. Mike was an interesting battle between two loose-aggressive players. Unfortunately for Mike, Ed sucked out one time too many as he took down the 10k for his team. To watch some live cash NL, head to www.liveatthebike.com (http://www.liveatthebike.com) from 6-9pm PT to follow the action.

On another note, for those that have no plans Thanksgiving, L@TB will have 14 hours of "best of" starting at 12 noon PT featuring the best moments of the ~9 months of poker. Hopefully they'll have a full schedule available by tomorrow.

well, I didn't come down because of the limit game and now there is a NL that I would play. Figures.

"Let's not even go there ... let's not even go there."

LOL!

BarronVangorToth

It truly would've been ironic if they'd gotten the limit game going last Thursday when I was about 3,000 miles west of my present location.

Sigh...

For those of you who may have missed my post in the LATB 17th thread, my apologies for not bringing my comedic stylings to the table for, alas, my work had to take priority and the convention had a number of fires I had to put out personally.

All of this after I spent all of the day Wednesday at the Mirage getting in some NL action so that I wouldn't be all in limit-mode going into the Bike...

Thanks to Bart and Tuch for corresponding with me and trying to make it happen, likewise to Michael for offering to pick me up in Anaheim.

Next time I have to go out to CA, I'm going to make it a priority to get out there a day early so that I have nothing to do on that first day so I can finally make the trip to this fabled casino of lore.

Until then - NL ahoy, I reckon.

Sorry Kev, I would play the 200 or 300/500 format. I like these better than the limit formats you put up.

I saw DM in their Exciter tour (at Great Woods, now the Tweeter Center, in Marshfield, MA). If you haven't seen them before, wow. Fantastic. All the gothy chicks with their elaborate arhythmic dancing was fun too. And a little infectious, unfortunately. I bet I looked like an idiot.

The Raveonettes (whomever they are) are the opening act at Staples.

Tony G finished in 7th, here's the final 6, with #7 added later tomorrow:

Paul Jackson 640k.
Richard Herbert 926k.
Phil Ivey 2.3 million.
Bengt Sonnert 580k.
Marc Goodwin 690k.
Kenna James 312k.

All chip counts approximate.

The following is the final table of the Monte Carlo Gold (consolation) tournament, the winner makes the Millions final table:

1 John Juanda 338,000
2 Devilfish Ulliott 266,000
3 Antonio Esfandiari 331,000
4 Victor Ramdin 174,000
5 Jesse Jones 171,000
6 Johan Storakers 352,000
7 Ken Lennarrd 463,000

What is the deal with trips on a paired board that the hosts want a big bet? With the pocket pair and making trips, this is strong. With a paired board that matches one of my cards, how is that strong? I do agree to bet this to find out where I am. What is the NL play here?

Heads up maybe. Please explain.

Bart,

Why do you prefer Absolute over Party?

Please don't say the ease of rakeback, as isn't the better action at the latter make the aforementioned at the former less preferable?

Barron Vangor Toth

Russ Fox

Australia, in general, does not tax gambling income. However, Harrah's should have withheld 30% of his winnings (there is no tax treaty between the US & Australia; this withholding, to the IRS, is mandatory), or $2.25 million. Thus, his actual win is only $5.25 million.

If you flop high trips but with a bad kicker - say A3 on a board of AA8 - you want ot find out quickly where you stand (though it will still be hard to get away from your hand) check raise if out of position and if reraised - you can be pretty sure you are beat.

Bart, that's interesting that you find the rakeback + reload at Absolute to make it more profitable than Party.

I have found the opposite.

Even with the hundreds of "free" money I've gotten at Absolute in any given week, I've found that the time spent to get it makes it not worthwhile as it doesn't equal Party.

This is getting waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off topic, but have others (that meticulously track your results!) found the same?
