11-21-2005, 11:55 PM
I'm seat 5. Seat 6 has been extremely loose since we made the money.

Seat 5: (2765)
Seat 6: (2965)
Seat 9: (2270)
Seat 9 posts small blind (200)
Seat 5 posts big blind (400)
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to Seat 5 [ 2s, 7s ]
Seat 6 calls (400)
Seat 9 calls (200)
Seat 5 checks.
** Dealing Flop ** : [ 2c, 7d, Js ]
Seat 9 checks.
Seat 5 bets (1200)
Seat 6 raises (2565) to 2565
Seat 6 is all-In.
Seat 9 folds.
Seat 5 ????

Thanks in advance.

itm?

yeah i'd call this.

edit, yeah i DEFINITELY call taht w/ bottom 2...every single time- instantly without thinking twice.

you've already got 1200 in there, it's 1k more and you're probably up against top pair only or an overpair is likely as well.

this can't be folded there.

I think i am pushing the flop but would be calling the all-in in this case. What are you worried about a set of Js or a higher 2 pair? I am pretty sure you are ahead most of the time here.

Agreed. Folding here is a waste of money without a godlike read.

I don't think you could fold with a read. The range of hands he could be doing this with is huge.

He did have top pair, then hit another j on the river. But I thought I might have been careless with a good chance to win.

Thanks for the help.

Yes, is that too conservative?

Thanks for your help.

By a long shot. You need to think of all the hands villian would play this way with. You took a bad beat that doesn't make pushing or calling bad with 2 pair once ITM. You need to go for the win.

Just fold preflop instead of checking if you're planning on mucking bottom 2 ITM!

Precisely. Even if you read someone for a strong hand here, in person, he likely has an overpair.

What I mean by a godlike read is like only if you posses x-ray vision could you fold here.

Superman never cheats at anything. That's why he's not that popular with kids today.

To the OP: as everyone else has said, this is an easy call.

if you really even considered folding, you need to reevaluate yer game. holla

Sure, it's an easy call... We already know he's a very loose player (you told us), he's not expeting you to hold 7,2 is he?

I'd be almost certain he was holding J/?, you'd be really unlucky to see him turn over J/2 or j/7 here (you've got one of each, there's one of each on the board)! I love these sort of situations, really get the brain thinking..
