Today's show (for those new to Live at the Bike) is a special $1k buyin 10 player, 2 team tournament. You can follow the action from 6-9pm PT at www.liveatthebike.com (http://www.liveatthebike.com) or by putting http://216.53.204.10/bike/bike_300.asx into your Windows Media Player or Real Player. Here's the explanation of what will be on tonight from Bart Hanson, one of the L@TB commentators:

[ QUOTE ]
Ok I'll do my best---2 teams of five players--"Mo's Nutz vs Team Action".
5 individual matches.
Each person puts up $1000 for a $10,000 prize pool.

Each match consists of 16 hands and the blinds increase every 2 hands starting at 5-10. At the beginning of the show players will cut cards to determine who on the other team they will play headsup.

The winner of each match is determined by the person with the most money at the end of each match. It doesn't matter if someone wins by $5 at the end of 16 hands or breaks a person after hand 1 all of the $1000 goes towards their team. Say Mo's Team wins 4 matches--they will have $8000 and Team Action will have $2000 going into the FINAL match. If Mo's team wins 3 and Team Action wins two Mo's team will start with $6000 and Team Action will have $4000 going into the FINAL match.

The FINAL match determines which team wins the competition. The FINAL match is a family Feud style headsup event. The person from each team that won the most in his individual match will be the team Leader and play in the Final Match. If there is a tie (for example player 1 on Mo's team busts his guy $+2000, as does player 2 on Moe's team) the team leader will be determined by who won quickest (which hand #). The TEAM LEADER can receive advice from his team on how to play hands. During the FINAL MATCH all of his team members will sit behind him and see his cards. It is up to the TEAM LEADER to make final decisions on play in the FINAL MATCH. Final match will be 5-10 blinds until 8:30 and then escalate similar to the individual matches.

The payout schedule is as follows:

Team Leader from Winning Team $2400
Other members of winning team $1800

I've seen this before, I think it was called Poker Superstars II.

How can one get a schedule of what will be webcast? Living close by The Bike I might want to get in on one of these games.

It's been tried before and it's tough to stick with it due to different games running on different nights.

Just show up @ 5pm with your fingers crossed and your pockets full of 100s.

The usual schedule at L@TB:

Monday limit holdem (although probably will be tomorrow night)
Tuesday $300/500 NL (5/5 blinds)
Wednesday "Whale Game" 25/50 or 50/100 NL
Thursday $500 NL 5/10 blinds
Friday $1000 NL 10/20 blinds

That's what they strive for, but the real only solid themes are the Wednesday/Friday games.

11-21-2005, 10:09 PM
Thanks Kev,

Seeing the $200/NL restricted buy-in on several Monday nights I stopped by only to find an 8/16 that I didn't really want to play.

Maybe if you know earlier in the day the game could be posted or emailed to those interested.

Also, you have mentioned the email address as live@thebike.com but have l@tb in the post. What is the real email?

Kevmath

live@thebike.com is the real email address, I just like using L@TB as an abbreviation. They're trying to have a limit show Mondays by popular demand. Tuesdays and Thursdays might be better nights for a chance at 200 NL. I don't know what will be on that night's show until about 5:30pm PT.

There's Ed with a suckout, and a Bartgasm ensues.

Russ McGinley

I didn't have the roll for 500NL, and back in those days the LATB 300/500 game was much tougher than it is now.

cwsiggy
11-21-2005, 10:40 PM
Another weird thing they are doing at Monte Carlo - there is a consolation tourney for everyone who was knocked out - (maybe just the top 100 knocked out) - winner of that gets 100k and a seat at the final table but with a "10 BB short stack)

Should be good TV

I see Kenna got even with Jean-Robert Bellande knocking him.

Jean-Robert Bellande was short stacked and got all in with [6][6] versus Kenna James with [Q][J]. A [J] hit to send Bellande to the rail.

If they have limit tomorrow night I think I might be driving down there since my house is tented and I'm staying @ a hotel.

But I do have a deposition with a claimant and an interpreter @ 3:30pm so it's doubtful to get from Ventura to Bell Gardens in 45 minutes.

Damn that sux, I just remembered I had to do actually work a full day tomorrow.

Ed v Corp Mike, over/under is 15 hands?

Bart, any idea on what exactly will be on the "best of" show, like a breakdown each hour? And will the 14 hours be streaming continuously thru the weekend?

cwsiggy
11-21-2005, 11:04 PM
This is going to be crazy. I still think it will last more than 15 hands only because the team can give advice.

The only reason they are doing this is to stroke Ed's Ego so they can take his money on Whale Night. This looks like some corporate retreat excercise.

Kevmath

I don't think they need Whale Night to take Ed's money, Ed's going to lose money just about every day that ends in Y.

They are not ALL the 'whales' that play in the Whale Game. They are all very good poker players, and $1,000 does not mean that much since they win and lose that in a day, or in Jesus's case, a hour.

I'm curious about the archives, what's the earliest show they have? When I get the archives, I'd love to listen to some of the really early shows (with no Bart, Tuch, Shirley) commentating for the cringe factor.

Wow what a hand that was, all in pre-flop 77 v 55, 5 on the flop, 7 on the river.

This heads up cash game is more interesting than the tourney.

11-22-2005, 12:42 AM
couldnt it be argued that stu ugnar was the best heads up cash game player of all time and might of won 1 or more mainevents at the wsop than he did if alive today. I stil think the poker boom may never of happened cause players like moneymaker and fossilman couldn't beat ugnar at his prime.

Hey guys...interesting night huh? I must say I really enjoyed it. Not too many players have that much experience playing heads up and to be able to watch it really helps. I hope you've enjoyed it and who knows, maybe even learned a thing or two. (I know, I have)
Let us know if you'd like to see more of that. Maybe a heads up championship or more of what we had tonight.

Feel free to send me a private message with any questions/comments or concerns.

Thanks for your support...
