(OT) Help me pick a topic for Daliman

So now that Dalibaby (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=0&Number=3864043&an=&page=0&v c=1) shares a birthday with an ex-girlfriend of mine and was born fairly close to the time of day when I was born, I get to pick a topic for a one-hour lesson with Dad. There are a number of intriguing options, but for those of who know Dali better (or don't... I've yet to meet him), what would you suggest I take as my lesson?

Current frontrunners are SNG play, poker concepts, and basic sportsbetting. SNG's could be highly profitable, but it's hard to teach a one-hour advanced customized lesson on that. Poker concepts also suffers from overlapping what I already know (I need to be time efficient). Sportsbetting is only interesting to me because I know nothing about it so a basic lesson would push me relatively far up the learning curve. I've tried the whole blackjack counting thing, and if I wanted to get that big a headache while maintaining a miniscule edge, I'd 8-table the 215's and live in a cardboard box. I would choose SnG play as I am sure you want to move up to the 109s and maybe 215s someday. He could help you a lot I am sure as he has played 1000s of them.

For the person who asked, BJ Camo is learning how to count cards while not appearing like a card counter. Basically drinking it up and gambling on otehr stuff and not making your betting system too obvious i guess... (I don't really know much about it).

Wong teasers come from a Stanford Wong book on sports betting. Essentially it is a system of making teaser bets where you have an edge due to a point spread that covers both 3 and 7 points in nfl football games (most games are settled between 3 and 7 points). I would go into more detail about it, but I was zoned out when Dali explained it to me. Lets just say that I lost $200 plus a $200 deposit bonus on these things.

I'm with the karaoke hitz all the way! What's more important - learning how to make the big tourney score or learning how to party like a true poker star once you make the big score? Obviously it's all about the partying - witness Antonio Esfandiari's stellar poker career as proof.

Personally, I'm a big karaoke skank with a bad voice, but I know how to rock the mike when it comes to karaoke and that more than makes up for my negative ROI in the $50s.

If Slim wants to learn how to party he needs to just roll to the other side of Vegas and look up ye ol' ob/gyn. Dali just kills Karaoke b/c of his voice mainly. I don't think it can be taught. Unless slim has this amazing falsetto no one knows about....or unless he can get his bunny to play accompanying piano for him. I hear chicks dig guys who have bunnies that can do that.

Essentially, using Blackjack as a vehicle for getting comps at 10 cents on the dollar. Requires knowledge of basic strategy play in blackjack and a few deceptive tactics.

Those interested at all, pick up "Comp City" by Max Rubin. It may be my favorite gambling book of all time, and with my library, that's saying something.

I'm 5'9.5". The tallest girl I ever dated was 5'11.5" and she was always trying to look shorter when we went out. If I wore my hiking boots and she wore her Chucks, we'd be about the same height and it was barely acceptable to her. It was annoying, but not horrifying. Anyway, my current girlfriend (who is super-awesome) is 5'7" and that's perfect.

sportsbetting = awesome.

if you're serious about it.. stay away from parlays. teasers can be good. dont bet more than like 3% of your BR. Make your own spreads before you see Vegas' then compare them to the ones @ the sportsbook, when you see onse w/ big differences (or small differences if you're awesome) bet it up. Or if you think the lines are being swayed by lots of fan loyalty or something. Like if the Yankees were playing the .. Devil Rays in the worlds series (and pretend the Rays didnt suck) betting on the devil rays would pay more $$ cause there a ton of people betting on new york, so the books will have to adjust their lines for that.

Seems like there are a few different elements to making good sports bets.

Shopping for the right line and vig
Analyzing the various spreads and how they move
Capping (can be divided up into different sports)

Seems like this would be a good venture for a partnership of 4 or 5 people who split duties.
