I'm waiting to vote until I'm sure this will stick around awhile. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sweet potato-pecan pie

Garlic cheese grits

I waited 3 threads for this? Was a poll really necessary?

My aunt makes a broccoli casserole that is unreal. Of the traditional fare, white meat turkey.

WTF, why all the votes for dark meat? Yuck.

is cheez-wiz involved? my sister makes a sick broccoli casserole, it's my favorite part about thanksgiving/christmas (even moreso than the deep fried turkey).

I'm not really into separating and picking a favorite. "Thanksgiving" means about half of those things to me. A few are much less important than others (like sweet potatos), but there is no on favorite. How can gravy be its own item? Does anyone drink it?

There is a gooey cheese substance involved, I've always assumed it was melted Velveeta. And bread crumbs. Either way, my mouth is watering.

Stuffing rules. That's my major complaint about fried turkey, no stuffing. And dressing isn't nearly as flavorful.

Turkey (white meat), though i like and will eat everything on that list.

Dark meat on stuffing covered in gravy. Sure, it will probably kill me, but I will die happy.

I didn't grow up with a traditional thanksgiving meal so I have never really gotten into all of these foods. Once I did starting eating turkey I found that I am a bit strange as I much prefer dry white meat...Anyone else like their bird that way? I always hear people mentioning how they are disappointed when they find that their poultry is dry...I just think JACKPOT! I guess I am weird.

I still think three choices is too few. For example, green beans are a essential part of the dinner to me, but obviously doesn't rank above the turkey/gravy/mashed potatoes.

The beauty of thanksgiving is that you're supposed to eat more than your daily allowed calories of EACH of the foods on the table. This is what makes it so special.

wow, white and dark meat is tied. i find this very surprising. maybe people like the taste of sandpaper as opposed to moist, succulent meat.

I'm the only one in the family who likes the dark stuff, so I'm set until December for turkey.

1. If you've never really eaten it, how do you know what it tastes like?
2. Do you know what ass tastes like? If so, trip report please.

Yeah, or maybe their mothers/wives just don't know how to cook a turkey properly so the white meat stays juicy and delicious.

Your poll doesn't even include the best part of Thanksgiving.....Dressing.

Dressing >>>>>>> Stuffing

Getting into this thread a little late, but am I the only one who HATES TG food?

I eat before I go to my grandmothers because I know I won't be eating anything. I'll take a little turkey and mashed potatoes so people don't bother me, but I don't eat it. I "might" eat a little corn and a roll or 2 but that's about it.

MonkeeMan
11-22-2005, 12:32 AM
So what do you eat before grandma's? Chicken nuggets or bean curd?

I'm actually a very good cook. I got a chicken fijitas meal planned out for myself. Went during luck today and bought everything I need. So I'll be eating just as good as everyone else... just not that crappy TG food!
