Small question.

BB with 7h9d, 5 limpers, I check. Table is pretty standard so far. SB is a sat. donk, the rest havn't done anything unusual. Lots of unraised pots.

Flop comes 9h6h5x. I lead and insta-fold to a raise. Standard? Should I save my money here and check/fold? I'm not really into going to war with top pair weak kicker.

11-20-2005, 05:57 PM
yea pretty standard.. some like to check to see the action first before committing any chips, some like to lead. (in those family pot top pair weak kicker situations) I think either play is fine, and of course after the raise it's an easy fold.

Bigdaddydvo
11-20-2005, 05:59 PM
Your line is fine. Your lead bet is correct. You were hoping to a)pick up the pot or b)find out if your hand was good. You got b) which is fine.

11-20-2005, 05:59 PM
Table 107. I see a stack of chips I want intensely.

ClaytonN

build to 3.8k, blinds get to 100/200. EP limper who hasn't done anything special limps, I make it 700 with AKs, folded back to him and he pushes me all in, it's 2.7k more?

I gotta call, so I did and he shows TT, which is pretty typical of scared players going at it above their bankroll, too afraid to play postflop and see an overcard hit oop.

Flop comes T72 tho and unfortunately im gone.

aaaand im out when 66 pushes on a flop of 8h5h3x against my AhKh

i just dont understand how some people play sometimes ... i raised UTG and bet pot on the flop, yet he still likes to think his 66 is good

cant win a coinflip for my life

of course, i never have AA in these situations so i can just point and laugh when he pushes 66 into my AA

whenever i DO have AA he has AhKh and hits

Donked down to 3.5k.

Started to get worried, KK utg, flop a set, fill up on turn, more than double up against nut draw.

KK the next hand again, set up on the flop again vs nut flush draw, fill up on turn again.

I go to make some pasta at the break, come back and hes got a damn strangle hold on the tournament.

its impressive.

The dude currently 2nd in chips immediately wants to discuss a deal at the final table. First in chips is directly on his right. Methinks he's gonna get hammered with raises.

11-21-2005, 12:16 AM
wow.. Mafews took a really bad beat AJ vs. QQ, J on flop.. J on river, now it's semi close.

ouch, he wouldve had 4 mil chips (1/2 chips in play) but got sucked out on the river

11-21-2005, 12:20 AM
lol, why didn't anyone tell me Lee Jones was this funny with the comments at the FT.

11-21-2005, 12:35 AM
My favorite part was when the short stack DEMANDED no less than $70K. And then the entire table just told him to go [censored] himself, essentially.

11-21-2005, 12:37 AM
i have no idea why the short stack would reject that deal.

what makes that even funnier is that he went out in 5th, good for about 20K less than what he would have got if he took the chop.

11-21-2005, 12:46 AM
If they really want to chop, they should double up mafews. He won't chop holding less than T2.5M. Not that I entirely blame him, he seems the best at the table.

me neither.. greed I guess. At a normal ft it's kinda trivial to talk chop if the difference is in the hundreds, but the 10's of thousands, Im taking the deal as a short stack.

i should be studying....

but, that was incredible that that guy didnt lose all his chips with 5s full there, four handed. geez! and what a strange way to play three/four aces.

11-21-2005, 12:53 AM
If DingSing bets that flop, he's got 5.8M three handed.

to be fair, the guy does have half the chips in play.

even though from that aa hand, he's... [censored], i dunno. not that good. check flop, minraise turn, overbet river.... ugh....

maybe hes just tired.

just the way he is saying it. that's all. really, if i were him, i wouldn't budge. 2.5 - 1 to everyone on the table.

Is it just me or did Rolld make out like a bandit in that deal?

11-21-2005, 01:05 AM
I'd have figured out how much equity I'd have had 3 handed with that stack, and then demanded it from dingsing for not effing stacking 64chady.

If I'm at the table with Mafews stack I'd have asked for 85k minimum against this field.

Considering he didnt get reraised by the guy with a boat of 5's full of A's I don't think there's anyway he could have stacked the other guy no matter how he played it. How would you play this? Flat call the turn bet? Reraise? How much? Checking the flop is ok in my opinion since he is slowplaying a monster.

im not saying he necessarily could have stacked the guy... i already said i was amazed the guy didnt stack himself.

i dont minraise the turn for one. and if i did minraise the turn, i wouldnt overbet the pot on the river, forcing my opponent to fold a lot of hands he might call for a small value bet.
