Itunes skipping while I play poker

Just a few days ago my music started skipping whenever I'm playing poker. I assume this is a resource issue but I have a new inspriion 9300 with 512mb of ram, and it was never a problem before. I defragged the harddrvie but sitll no luck. Any tips?

While you're doing both...

start->run->taskmgr

Take a look and see if your CPU is being hammered. If so, take a look at the processes running on your system and see what's being a resource hog. It's entirely possible that some update to your poker software or iTunes is causing CPU contention. It may also be that there's a background process sucking up your CPU that you don't know about. You are correct though. When an mp3 "skips" it's usually because it's not being decoded fast enough.
