I found my avatar of the future: here (http://www.progressiveboink.com/archive/calvinhobbes.htm), 3rd panel on the strip labeled "I fold", about 2/3 of the way down.
I've saved the strip and sliced out the frame I want, but there doesn't seem to be a way to upload an avatar here directly from your hard drive. I was wondering if someone with a web page of their own would be willing to host a small pic so that I could use the url as a source for my avatar. Any takers could PM me an email address, and I'll send the pic. I'd owe you one.
Problem #2 is that the pic is a .bmp file, and I don't think these forums can use those for avatars. Any way for me to convert the file to, say, a .jpg?
Ideas for alternate solutions are welcome, and thanks in advance for any help you can give.
