donating furniture in nyc

I will be moving soon and want to donate some furniture
(shelves, dressers, TV's, vcr's, monitor, plastic drawer
sets, dishes, etc... ). The stuff is
pretty old but useable. Any suggestions for charities ?
I can actually drop the stuff in a uhaul if necessary as
part of my regular move.

Salvation Army is where I drop my stuff off. You get a receipt, and it becomes a tax write off. You can also write off transportation to Salvation army - cool!

Thanks. I was considering the Salvation Army, but I thought
maybe there was some other charity I did not know about which
might also be worthy - specially since I have the van and so
could take the stuff to a smaller charity.
