Let me start off by saying that I am relatively new to playing online poker (holdem fixed - no limit)
(2 months).
I know I have a problem with my game in tournaments. In the early stages I
play tight and it seems to work well for me, I usually add an additional 50%
onto my starting stack before the blinds start to get high. So far so good
but then this is where I have problems.
I believe that I should play looser whilst the blinds are higher and start
stealing but on the occasions that I have tried this so far (raising mid
position with no callers) I seem to get called and then committed to a pot
that pre flop turns out to be not much good. My own instincts tell me to
wait for a big hand and then try and move forward but this seems contrary to
what I have read.
My game seems to hold up well early on but I am consistently falling just
short of the payout stages. If anyone could advise me on how to play better
I would be very gratefull.
