ZoneAlarm Problem

So, I just downloaded the free version of ZoneAlarm, but after installing it I was unable to access any web pages via my browsers. Other software (bittorrent) worked just fine. It is now uninstalled, and I can surf fine. Any idea (if I install it again) what the problem was?

This may be a stupid response, but did you accidentally tell Zone not to let the browser to access the internet?
