View Full Version : "Official" Live at the Bike thread (11/17) (5/10 NL)

Tonight's show is scheduled to be a 5/10 NL game with a 500 min, no max buyin. However, they're currently having trouble getting the game going at the moment. For all the Barron Vangor Toth fans in the house, he hasn't made it to the Bike yet, but hopefully is en route or something close to it. Last night's whale game didn't feature another Ed hit and run, as he dropped over 20k, but eventually did get back over 10k of that loss. For those that want to watch the action (whatever it is), can check out www.liveatthebike.com (http://www.liveatthebike.com) from 6-9pm PT tonight.

I spoke with Barron Vangor Toth at 5:20 PM. Unfortunately, He will not be able to attend tonight. He ended up having to schedule dinner meetings which means he is having a great business trip.

Barron will be back on the threads on Monday night.

I could've sworn that BVT was in the 4 seat. But seriously, glad business went well for the Tothster. If the poker doesn't thrill you, FSN is showing billards, Mike Sigel v Loree Jon Jones for the largest prize in pool history: $150,000. Infomercial guru Kevin Trudeau is the money mark for this debacle.

Many on the thread insist Mason's analysis is wrong and JJ is better EV. (I find that Mason being wrong on math in poker very unlikely though) It's beyond my math abilities and the thread is giving me a headache. Who knows.

is this the $200 NL game?

this game is unbeatable in the longrun - not enough chips with this blind structure and such a low buy in...

This game is one where you need to double up to play "correctly".

Geoff,

You are correct--the same is true of the $100 game. The blind structure sucks in both these games. The $300-500 or $500game are the only ones to play where you can be a consistant winner.

The $200 and lower fixed buy in games were created by the casinos for the recreational player. They kill on the rake and with all the constant rebuys, and unbelievably loose preflop play, the closest beatable NL game to this, agreed, is a 300/500 game, BUT YOU HAVE TO BUY FOR THE MAX.

It's why this game *is* beatable. The $200 (and $100) nlhe shouldn't be beatable, based on the rake, and the blinds/buy-in ratio. But the overall quality of play is bad, and this allows good players to beat this game.

I understand where they are coming from, but in reality, it's not the commentators fault. Its the douches playing on a televised game just so they can say they were on camera. Of course, now they are considered douches to the rest of us that have viewed this episode.

I hope they get kicked in the nuts.

I don't blame the show at all, just the players.

Bart and tuck did what they could, big ups to them for not quitting.

I'm just starting to catch up on everything that I need to catch up on, but I thought I'd apologize in this thread for not making it to LATB as I'd planned. Thanks to Michael for offering to pick me up before I left for Vegas AND for posting here in the thread that I wouldn't make the show. Thanks likewise for Bart and Tuch for replying to my PMs and for trying to make my slot on the show happen.

Alas... everything with the convention took up too much time and there was no way to make it to The Bike by 6pm their time for the show.

Hopefully next time.

Hope things went well enough at the convention that missing L@TB wasn't too bad. And as a note to all that follow the thread, tonight's thread is in the HUSH forum, a 1k heads-up tournament with 5 player teams. The "official" thread has all the details.
