I usually 4 table the 11's and at this time was single tabling this 22. This situation seems to come up very frequently, and it seems like i usually profit off of it, but my sample size is short.

Poker Room Blinds - 15/30

Seat 1: button ($990 in chips)
Seat 2: sb ($1,120 in chips)
Seat 3: bb ($1,440 in chips)
Seat 4: utg ($3,220 in chips)
Seat 5: hero ($1,450 in chips)
Seat 6: utg+2 ($1,450 in chips)
Seat 7: mp1 ($1,470 in chips)
Seat 8: mp2 ($1,440 in chips)
Seat 9: mp3 ($990 in chips)
Seat 10: co ($1,430 in chips)

Hero is dealt j /images/graemlins/heart.gifj /images/graemlins/spade.gif
Preflop - 1 fold, hero limps, 5 folds, button limps, 1 fold, bb checks

flop 5 /images/graemlins/heart.gif6 /images/graemlins/club.gif8 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif
button checks, hero bets t100, button raises t960 and is all-in, Mavericklund folds, hero calls

My thinking here was that if he had a straight he wouldve either slowplayed it or bet smaller ... - was my thinking right?

Limping here is really bad. Basically, by limping you created the situation you are now in. Raise 3-4BB PF.

do you normally limp with JJ? anyway, the question is what should you do NOW? well after seeing no raise preflop villain doesn't think anyone has a high pair, he's thinking everyone limped with 2 hi cards, suited connectors, maybe low pocket pair. i say villain limped with A8 here and is trying to protect his hands from overcards on the turn.

I've never limped with JJ UTG+1 in my life. Hero should probably fold to the push. Lots of poker left to play.

I dont mind the preflop limp. In this spot, Im probobly 50/50 whether I raise or call.

On the flop, though, I have to lay this down. You're risking your entire stack where you have terrible pot odds, and still a good shot of doing well if you fold here. (t1320) This might be marginally +EV, but you just cant play it. This is of cource assuming no read.

I've always limped with jj in early rounds, i thought that was a standard play. Are you guys suggesting a raise because the stacks are deeper than those at party, or would you always raise jj in early rounds?

I call fairly quickly. How's he supposed to know your hand is as strong as JJ? Hands like A8, A7, 99, 77, and 87 are by far the most likely for him...you're not beating some of these by that much, but the pot's laying you nice odds. the fact that this guy has lost a third of his stack by this point in the tournament also suggests that he is likely to be the risky-move-making type.
