Anybody have a favorite site for puzzles, famous games, etc.?

Lot of them out there.

Thanks, day shift.

I've only recently been studying the game with any commitment, sort of keeping my decrepit mind flexible.

It's humbling. I suck. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

miniclip.com has some fun time wasters.

How's it going with the cisco stuff?

Good sites. I like Dan Heisman "Novice Nook" and Yasser Seirawan's columns on ChessCafe. Make sure to go to the Archives section and read Heisman's back articles as well as Sunil Weeramantry's old articles. Pandolfini's column is sometimes entertaining, but some of the questions he chooses to answer are stupid.

If you want some realtime games, go to www.chessclub.com (http://www.chessclub.com) - the Internet Chess Club. You can play as a guest for free, and the competition's much better than on Yahoo. If you want correspondence games, there's www.stansco.com/netchess/ (http://www.stansco.com/netchess/) - I've found good competition here too.

chess.emrald.net has some good tactical exercises, although the system could be a bit better. Still developing.

The only thing I don't like about chess.emerald.net or CTS (chess tactics server)

Is that after the program makes it's move you only have 3 seconds to make yours. If you are going to use this site I recommend you go for a higher 98%+ success rate rather than worry about the ratings.
