View Full Version : "Official" Live at the Bike thread (11/16) (50/100 NL)

Tonight's show is expected to be their "Whale Game", of 50/100 NL with a 5k max buyin to start, and increases as they lose their chips. The last couple of weeks have featured Ed Shanizarian, a businessman-donk type, win a lot of chips, then leave the game or turn his chips over to an ultra-tight player. Can he do it 3 weeks in a row? Will any 2+2 legends be able to break into the game and take some chips for themselves? Will there be 3 $20k+ pots the first 45 minutes ? You'll just have to tune in tonight and find out. Hopefully tonight's show will start on time (6pm-9pm PT over at www.liveatthebike.com (http://www.liveatthebike.com) for those that care to take a gander).

Kevmath

None that I know of, but in this thread last week, a few were wishing they were in the game. From what Bart told me in his PM, so far it's only just the regulars: Yosh Nakano, "Action Joe" Ngyuen, Vic Park, etc.

Do I have to keep restarting the windows media player or will it start playing when it starts? (Right now it just shows a banner for 5 seconds)

Kev, I plan on going next Monday. Is there a producer I could ask for to make sure I get on the table? Or can I just ask any floorman?

Just show up like around 4pm.

When I got there, I was the first person on the list. It's in the high limit section, on the board it says LATB and Interest, then talk to the floor person at 5:30pm to see which game they're spreading.

I'd suggest sending a PM to BartHanson or FriarTuck. If they do limit again, they'll probably start the table early (like maybe 5pm PT) and create a board for the show. Or you could do what Surfin did, since he's the one who's actually been on the show.

I like the KK laydown.

Bart, if he calls, what can he beat with that raise seat 7 made???

KK (no spade) v. possible Flush or Set, what's the point???

The only hand he is ahead to is something like AsJx, and it's still a decent chance seat 7 could get there.

Hey Bart, I know you haven't ever really discussed this topic, but how does running the board multiple times affect the expected value and variance of a hand?

Also: Did they run the board three times like it was nothing?

This is hardly a whale game, once Ed leaves in about 3 minutes this table is going to get tight and the pots will most likely stay small.

If Ed decides to leave early, it'll be like most of the whale games where the boring business-types "ruin" the game. When the game was 25/50 NL with the 5k cap about 3 weeks ago, it was a much better game as most of those regulars weren't to be seen and you'd have Jonas and a different cast of characters liven up the game.

At least one thread on this already in MH NL PL. EV stays the same no matter how many times you run it and variance is reduced.

What did Lederer mean when he said in his More Secrets vid

I'm assuming it has to do with the power of the all in move.

HAHAHAH Bart answered. I was kidding. Ya know, since he's offered this explanation every single show they've ever done.

11-16-2005, 10:33 PM
running it multiple times was started to avoid losing big pots in cash games by a lucky river card. Its so hopefully the best hand will win more often than not.

Kevmath
11-16-2005, 10:34 PM
I'm thinking it was either 3 or 4 weeks ago in the Whale Game, Jonas really can play some amazing poker at times. His games Friday nights in the "big" 10/20 NL game are worth watching as well.

Barron's supposed to be on the show tomorrow, if things can be worked out for him to get there in time. I moved the thread out of the WPT forum basically because it really didnt belong there in the first place. Also, It was an attempt to steer the thread towards more discussing the poker and not go off-topic. Also, it was an attempt to expand the viewing of the show to other forums (as appropriate) since most seem to want to stay far away from the WPT forum.

I think he was referring to that poker (being a people game) has many more variables than naked numbers, and hence no hand has an absolute value that applies to every situation.

EDIT: by naked numbers I mean showdown value percentages

11-16-2005, 10:59 PM
Skawty is pronounced Scotty = ). but really thats why ed was wondering why he lost money on the hand because it was chopped 50/50 with the 5 on the 3rd run. A 10 hit the turn to give Ed the win on the 2nd run. If Ed really won 2/3 of that pot he would have had a lot more chips after the hand. Not that it matters really. Keep up the good work great show. = )

that was one of the worst commercials ever, the girl didn't even know what she was saying.

do ad agencies really think showing [censored] works for poker players?

The following shows don't work in the archives:

=============================
11/09/2005 - The Whale Game
11/10/2005 - The Whale Game

The girl in the ad would barely make the lineup when they had ladies around the table in this game. I think someone at pokerblue needed someone in a hurry and that was what turned up. Somehow I don't think ad agencies are in PB's budget.

What? She's definitely hot. Likely dumber than a crate of anvils but I wouldn't kick her out of bed.

I think Shirley should have done the commercial, though.

We got it the 4th time you posted this. 11/10 wasn't a Whale Game, and there probably was some sort of issue between Joker Gaming and L@TB when transferring, or something like that.

I think the minimum at Pokerblue is $50, if they deposit $100 and use Bonus Code: Bike, and win the freeroll they could also have the option of getting a buyin into the Whale Game.

Obviously this is true, I just figure there's gotta be some people who can respect their bankroll and sit in that game.

We need to get Ed Miller in this game. Skalansky writes books where it assumes the other players know how to play poker, he would never be able to figure out the Eds and Jesuss of Live.

Kevmath

I think Yosh was saying how people on the thread saying that allegedly none of them can't play (or something like that). Then he mentioned people who write can't play. Noticing the lack of any reaction, it was pretty hard to really hear clearly what was said, oh where's Jive Dadson when we need him?

Nah, I heard it was a Honda Civic. Just a nice little car, nothing special.

[/ QUOTE ]

I was thinking of buying an '06 civic hybrid. It's a pretty decent car for the price ~20K.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd probably get a ticket for Driving while not Asian...but considering the Civic has the same body of the Acura TSX for 10K cheaper, have my buddy take the emblems off and add some rims and the difference is negligible.

--------------

P.S. Mr Woods is probably in Vegas livin it up counting his $$, that guy seriously crushes these NL games.

[/ QUOTE ]

Skip the hybrid--the mileage doesn't improve much. I read something like 38mpg average. Our 92 Civic is getting 35mpg so why bother?
