View Full Version : Play this like the "2 overcard hands" discussion in SSH?

While reviewing this hand, I was struck by the parallel to the "two overcard hands" discussion in SSH I think (small equity edge on flop, big edge if safe card comes on turn; wait for turn to raise). However, unlike the two overcard hands discussion, getting a little heart to fold here would be nice. Do .50/1 fish fold little one card flush draws often enough to make the flop bet +EV?

Unfortunately I don't have any specific applicable reads on the villans -- typical low-limit loose-passive fish.

This hand is perfect. While you can sometimes wait for the turn to raise, you should virtually never wait to the turn to bet.

DOH. I guess the bet/raise issue would be the other important difference between this hand and the two overcard hands discussion in SSH. /images/graemlins/blush.gif So let's assume that someone bet into hero here. Call and wait for the turn?

I play this the same way as you did. I don't think a river bet can help in any way here. Anyone who calls here has you beat. No one with any heart will fold now, not after already calling 2 bets before. And if no one does have a heart, then they will be folding to a bet here anyways.

I don't mind betting on the flop as it kept the table checking to the raiser and may have given you a free showdown.

It really depends on a lot of things: the position of the bet, how many opponents have called, how many are to act behind you, etc. If you were closing the action if you called and there was a caller or two in between you and the bettor, I could see waiting.
