Forcing myself to, you know, actually write a paper, I went to brainstorm - and naturally went into the bathroom. I need a quiet, small place to really start thinking I guess. Of course, as I'm writing this, I realize I have a walk-in closet. That might work, too. I even have a desk in there. I should work more in there, heh!

Also, when I can't fall asleep I'm thinking so much that I usually happen upon something in bed. Goddamn that's annoying...

So, are you the thinker on the shitter? Or maybe you have a place outside you go to. Where do you go to escape everything and focus?

Driving, walking, eating, brushing teeth at night - occasionally shower, but I'm not a morning person.

In the shower.

In none of these cases was I TRYING to have a "great thought". It just comes when I'm totally relaxed.

My great thoughts usually occur right before I sleep of the middle of the night, and of course the default, the pooper.

In terms of really useful ideas that help me financially or whatever, usually when I really, really need them. They occur usually when I wake up (I guess the old subconscious is working on them for me).

In terms of profound or meainingful, usually on the move (be it walking, driving, sitting on the train, or whatever) or playing with the kids.

In terms of supremely murderous, then sitting in my car behind some awful driver.

For me it always seems to be when I've stayed up much later than I normally would and am not messed up.

Typically on the bus/walk to work, or any other place where I'll have no way to express them until I lose the one part that made them really genius.
