Is the push trying to signify I have him dominated over his presumed ace small?

the push is because, as you said, he has been raising frequently, so his range likely includes a lot more hands than Ax, many of which you are ahead of, and those that you aren't ahead of (low pocket pairs, Ax), you may have fold equity against.

This seems like a really good place to try the very tricky "fold" maneuver!
