View Full Version : Best no-limit book

Need some advice for a friend who is playing in a no limit tourney in Vegas for MBA students. He has two months to get ready and wants a book on no-limit hold em to prepare. If given only one book, what should he read to supplement with his practice. Keep in mind, it must be geared toward no-limit play.

Tell him to read TOP while listening to 'Eye of the Tiger' on repeat.

Tell him to go to the mall and find the screen printing kiosk. Give them a picture of Dan Harrington to put on a pillow case. Sleep with Dan for the 2 months and you should be GOLD!

Can we just get a sticky in this forum with the best book for each type of game? Would that even work?

How good of a friend is he? If you are going to be playing at the table with him, recommend "Play Poker Like the Pros" by Hellmuth... if you like him then Harrington on Hold 'Em I.

"What is the best book for...?" is a meaningless question. There is no best book. The answer depends on the reader. It is a function of the reader's experience, other books read, kinds of games played, current results, goals, natural playing style, etc.

For example, most people here would probably say that Miller is "better" than Jones for an intro book. But they might also recommend Jones to a particular friend who is a newb and who they knew would make more initial progress starting with that book.
