What do you think Albert's career statistics will be when it is all said and done?

Current stats: 201 HR, 621 RBI, 982 Hits, Age 25

I doubt it. From what I've read, Pujols takes care of his body very well. He plays 1B which doesn't put nearly the stress on the body that CF does.

He also plays outfield, RF if im not mistaken. But let's remember, to make a great career you have to stay healthy, whether your playing outfield, 1B or DH you are always prone to injury. I think at 25 years old(right?), saying that he could possibly hit 500 HR's is a giving him a lot of credit, give him about 5+ years before you can even wonder what his stats might be. But I think 500+ HR and 2300+ hits right now are my estimates

This is a bit early but I think if Pujols can stay healthy and does not screw everything up when all is said and done he could be one of the best 5 baseball players ever.

The beginning of his career reminds me a lot of Frank Thomas.

The dude played HS ball here. Why would he go to HS if he were like 19? I dunno, maybe I'm naive, but I don't see that happening.

and juco here.

dominicans lie about there age, most of the time their real age is discovered later and its always 2-4 years younger than what they really are. its well known in the minor leagues and joked about, its locker room humor...i was basically just joking.

I wasn't sure, I figured you were smarter than that but there're a lot of people that doubt his real age.

Guys, check out Pujols at bats totals for his first five years. Or, I'll give them to you.....

I'm into stats a little bit, and have never noticed anything like this. What does everyone think?

Why do you think this?

[/ QUOTE ]just a guess, not particularly based on anything. It is important to remember that guys like Bonds/Clemens are anomally's (sp?), and with the supposed end of the steroid era, look to see players careers to take a more normal pattern.

Like Hank Aaron's, or McCovey's, whose best year came when he was 31. And second best at 32. And third best at 34 and 35...

edited to add: It is entirely possible that Pujols kills it for a while, I was just making a generalization about all players.

I dunno, I still have some lingering doubt. He's disgusting if it's true and only amazing if he's a couple years older.

Well, yeah, my point is that when somebody has a weird season they're all WHOAMG STEROIDS~!

Just pointing out how it can be weird.

I really don't see much of a difference between putting those number up from ages 20-25 or 22-27. It's just as impressive either way.

if he's 25 he possibly gets better the next couple seasons. if he's 27 it's likely this was close ot the best of it. Also, guys without speed tend not to age too well, see giambi, jason

Not only does pointing to one player not make a rule, but Giambi hit 32 hrs this season and OPS'ed .975, above his career average. Not too shabby for a 34 year old.
