I found a great deal there and am considering booking my October vacation there. One thing that bothers me is that a large percentage of the reviews on the hotel talked about paper thin walls and extremely loud plumbing. If it were just a few reviews, I would assume that it was just a few grumps, but a lot of people have complained. If anyone that has stayed there can let me know how bad it really is, I would be very thankful....

I've stayed there and everything seemed fine.

How did you like Monte Carlo overall ?

I am staying for one week and am also considering Orleans (300 less), Luxor (75 less) and Mirage (300 more).....

I'll point out that the Monte Carlo has an excellent location for a poker player. It's dead-center of the poker activity on the Strip.

If the Luxor is less than the Monte Carlo by all means stay there. Clean oversize rooms, excellent polite service and still in a good location. Plus I am always lucky at their craps tables! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I think the place is great. I have stayed there on several occasions.

I've never stayed at the Monte but I've stayed at the Orleans a number of times. It's got a great non-smoking poker room. The price is hard to beat. Plus poker rates it's like winning before you get there. Rent a car though and then you can drive to all the spots Mandalay, Luxor, Monte, Bellagio, Mirage, Binions.

I found a new hotel searcher called <travelaxe.com> check it out it's awesome. Has all the searches on it and gives you rates from 20 or so groups like Expedia, Hotels.com, Lodging.com, etc.

Good Luck no matter where you stay.

The Luxor tower rooms are much nicer than the pyramid rooms. Also both the Luxor and The Mirage will give you a good rate if you book through the poker room and you are planning to play alot of poker. The Mandalay Bay wil also give you a poker rate but it is much higher than the other two (but the rooms are great, second only to the Venetian IMHO, but I've never stayed at the Bellagio, Paris or MGM Grand). Still Mandalay Bay has great rooms. But how much time will you spend in the room anyway?

Thanks Gitz,

After reading your post I found a rate at Orleans for $500 and booked!!! Since I am already renting a car, I figured it would be easy to get to the other casinos after I put my girlfriend to bed.....

There is a manager in the poker room named Rubin who is one of the best I've ever seen. He's quick as a whip and as sexy as Dynasty (in long pants). If the room is short on dealers, he can pinch hit better than ANY extra board crew on the strip. Except for the smoking, it's a fine little room. LGPG, Babe /forums/images/icons/heart.gif

Yeah, if you are renting a car Orleans is great. Very good rooms for the $. Orleans now has a spa for GF. HDPW says spa just fine co,pared to others inc. MC. We will be @ Orleans over 4th. MC is good tho. Better when they had tram going.

It is? Wouldn't an ideal place to stay be somewhere right between Bellagio and the Mirage, say, Caesar's?

Not if you play at Bellagio, Mirage, Monte Carlo and Mandalay Bay.

If that is the case then I think MC is right smack in the middle of the action.

The Orleans seems much cheaper, but it's not on the strip and transportation to the strip may be a pain. Taking cabs might get old.

Poker rooms within walking distance to the south of the Monte Carlo include the Excalibur, Luxor, and Mandalay Bay. Rooms within walking distance to the north include Bellagio, Flamingo, and Mirage. That's why I say it's in the center.

On the far northern end of the Strip, there is the Stardust, Circus Circus, and Sahara.

I didn't notice anything especially bad about the plumbing. Walls maybe were a bit thin, but nothing intolerable. I just finished a 5 night stay there, and I had a great time. It's a great location, walking distance to just about anything, but I didn't bother leaving the Monte Carlo poker room after the first couple days. I'll second PokerBabe's comment about Ruben being a great dealer. In general, the dealers were all great, games were nice and friendly (and soft), reasonable rake with high hand jackpots, and the only real problem I had was with spotty enforcement of the no smoking signs. Oh, and I really like the 1-4-8-8 game they have there with 1-2 blinds. Limping in for $2 makes the game a lot less boring.

I like the Monte Carko. Fairly new hotel/casino and well located for poker. The tram to the Bellagio is out for a year but still easy walking distance. Rooms are OK.
