Just saw two gas stations with signs that said $1.99! Wow, that's a lot faster than I predicted. I thought $2.19 by year end was going to be great.

Note: I know gas is a tiny part of my expenditures. It's just a psychological sort of thing. Maybe everyone will now be in a better mood.

St. Louis.

Wow, you're paying way too much in Austin. Gas Buddy puts you at $2.03-$2.04.

Gas Buddy (http://www.gasbuddy.com/)

San Diego is always going to be expensive, you have to burn weird gas.

Louisiana and Mississippi now have some sub-$2 gas as well.

In Beaumont TX where Rita just kicked our ass there are two grocery stores (krogers) that are selling for 1.98. And then right down the street there will be a Exxon selling for like 2.30, and [censored] people still are going there!

Grocery stores sell the cheapest gas; it's not filtered well enough and thereby bad for your car. Some people will pay extra for premium gasoline.

Yes. Unlike Europe and Canada, taxes on gasoline in the US are dirt cheap in comparison. I think it's around 30-40 cents a gallon here in Massachusetts.

I don't buy this at all. I have watched the same tanker go from Kroger down to Chevron down to Shell or whatever.

I have been filling up my 540i BMW with Supreme from Krogers for about 4 years and have never had any problems.

11-15-2005, 04:08 PM
Well, of course you're not going to buy it.

I've never seen a Safeway tanker go to a Mobil station. Every tanker has the name of the station on it. Filtration is bull [censored] anyway, the only difference between Popov Vodka and Grey Goose Vodka, is the price.

The 540i BMW works well with Kroger’s gasoline, unless you got the leather package, then you'll have problems.

$1.85 where I am at and special promo's are setting the price at $1.75.

Crazyiness!

Prices have dropped about 40 cents in Los Angeles since the summer. My local station is now $2.59. (oh, and nine tenths of a cent, don't forget).

I'm sure it's because they'd rather have quality major brand gas than that inferior grocery store stuff.
