I didn't set up a poll because it's early, I'm lazy and I might leave one off. So just talk acts you liked and/or disliked. Thanks.

Lance Burton, Mac King, Penn & Teller.

Burton at Monte Carlo does a fast paced mix of sleight of hand and stage magic and does it very well.

Mac King has an afternoon show at Harrah's that is cheap and funny, and the tricks are entertaining, too.

Penn & Teller were good, they do a couple of "reveals" which is always fun, and they show off multiple talents, like juggling and playing music. I put them last, though, because they are far more expensive, and a little annoying. I even like their politics, but Penn just goes on and on about how great the next trick is going to be. Plus, the show is off Strip at the Rio.

I saw Lance Burton years and years ago before he was big. He was pretty good, I imagine the show is much better now.

I saw Penn and Teller last year and didn't really like them and they were fairly expensive.

I say go with Burton.

I was in Vegas a few weeks ago and we saw Lance Burton. Excellent show. It is a little bit more family oriented than some of the other shows I suspect, but the magic is very good. We wanted to see Penn & Teller but their show incovneniently (for us at least) starts at 9 a.m. But I would otherwsie have definitely checked them out as I have eben fans since I was a kid.)

Incidentally, I saw Teller who was right ion front of me (but in 1st class) onour flight back to NY Sunday. He was actually practicing card sleights in his seat. I told him I was a long-time fan and he said thanks. So i guess he does talk.

Does that guy 'The Amazing Jonathon' perform anywhere in Vegas?

Have seen him on Comedy Central is he's freaking hilarious (might totally suck live though...sometimes it just traslates better to TV)

Haven't seen any of the acts live but am interested in checking them out on my next trip out there.

Yes, he is at the Sahara now. 10PM nightly, dark Thursdays.

Here is the latest review by Mike Weatherford of the LV Review-Journal (http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2005/Oct-28-Fri-2005/weekly/4000932.html)

Never seen his show. That might be a good idea for the next trip.

I love everything Ive seen on TV from Penn & Teller, but their live act is not that good. I agree with a previous poster that said the begining was cool enough but then it gets boring. After I left I had buyers remorse. And its 80 bucks iirc.

I would love to see the amazing jonathan next time Im there.

I have seen about a dozen magic shows when I was in Vegas a year ago. I think I liked MacKing the best. Extremely funny and good magic.
Lance Burton was good too, although it felt like he was sponsored by some brand of toothpaste. He smiled continually even when talking so it looked like he was practicing ventriloquism.
The first part of The Amazing Jonathan was nice, the second part I didn't find as funny.
Penn & Teller were great. Funny, some great magic and very professional.
Another show I really liked was World's Greatest Magic. They had different magicians performing and they're not the same ones every show. When I was there Kevin James and Juliana Chen were the two I still remember. I think Kevin James does perform there every show.
Showgirls of Magic had crappy magic, but it had boobs.

I'll add my voice to the crowd saying Penn & Teller. It's the only magic act I've seen in Vegas, so I can't really contrat it to the other options, but I definitely had a good time.

I saw The Amazing Johnathan last year before he moved to the Sahara, and he's great, the old theater was a total dive, so i hope the new place is nice. The magic is far from spectacular so if thats what you're looking for go see lance burton.

Mac King is hilarious and is adult oriented. A must see. Penn & Teller to me is a waste of time. Mac King without a doubt. You'll thank yourself for going.

I like how you put magic in quotation marks to make it clear you wanted to see the fake kind they do onstage, as opposed to real magic.

I enjoyed Lance Burton, but I have nothing to compare it with, so can't say it's the best or anything.

I agree with most posters that Lance Burton is the
best show, but another to consider is Rick Thomas at
the Stardust. I saw him a couple of times at the Trop,
where he played for years, great show, it includes close up, big effects, and animals. Plus it's a daytime show, and relatively inexpensive (under $30).
I find Penn and Teller a little too dark, but did enjoy
Mac King.

As another poster said, he's at the Sahara. I was able to get half-price tickets at that Coca-Cola ticket office thingie by the MGM.

He's hilarious in person. One word - uncensored (unless you are easily offended by crude language and blue humor). I was crying so hard I couldn't breathe.

Thanks for all the replies. I was in vegas last week. Mac King was on vacation Thurs. Ended up being too tired to see anything that night. Saw Blue Man Group on Friday. KA on Sat. Watched football at the sportsbook Sunday...
