For those interested, Live @ the Bike (found at www.liveatthebike.com (http://www.liveatthebike.com)) will be showing an 8/16 limit holdem cash game from 6-9 pm PT (on a 5 minute delay). If you're not able to watch the show from the website, you can put http://216.53.204.10/bike/bike_300.asx into your Windows Media Player or Real Player as well to follow the action.

I just talked to Zach about it. It'd take me about an hour to get there in 6'oclock LA traffic, and I doubt I'd get a seat. Fish can play for hours at 6/12 without busting. I'm gonna give it some more consideration at 7PM after traffic has died down.

BB has red nines. Four limpers and he raises. (I think the raise is good, but close.)

Flop comes A /images/graemlins/diamond.gif J /images/graemlins/spade.gif and a black 5 or 6 (can't remember sorry).

If you are BB do you bet out or check / fold?

So what's the deal with this thing? Is it just a random table being filmed? Or are these players supposed to be half-decent (haven't watched a hand yet). Why are they on "TV"?

shant
11-14-2005, 10:28 PM
It's a random game of players. Theyre not supposed to be good at all.

Here's the action of one hand: KJs raise, AQo 3-bets, 86o coldcalls 3. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Live @ the Bike has been streaming live cash poker over the internet since February. They usually stream NL games $200 min/max thru 50/100 NL. They rarely do limit games, which is why this may be the first time you may have heard of the show. The thread was in the WPT forum for a long time, which seems to have caused some people to not know of the show either.

Hey the hosts read this thread? What are the chances of leaving my house now and getting a seat? If I that's not possible, what's the possibility of coming down there and side-betting red vs. black flops?

Haha...I watched about 2 hands and can tell they're not great players. So the Bike just randomly picks a game to broacast? Why 6/12 instead of a higher limit or bigger NL table?

It's usually 10/20 NL or 30/60 LHE, sometimes even bigger games. This is the first time I've seen a game this low.

Kevmath
11-14-2005, 10:36 PM
It's a synergy type of thing, I put up the thread, people discuss what's going on the show, they comment. It's a lovely relationship. They've been trying to do limit games for a while, but the 20/40 and 30/60 regulars don't want to appear on the show, which is why they've done 6/12 and 8/16.

Flopping two pair with random hand, say a K and a 4 would be 48.5:1 or about 2%

Didn't seem right to me but I just double checked.

If you hold AK the flop with come AKx or better 2.02% of the time.
There ya go.

It's harder than it looks, to comment on live poker -- also because they have a lot to keep track of, and they don't get the cards right when the action occurs; it takes a few seconds.

These guys are nice and very good poker players (I've played briefly with both of them), so I wouldn't worry too much.

sweetjazz
11-14-2005, 10:53 PM
Actually I probably stand corrected. The chances of flopping two pair / trips / full house / quads with a random hand is 3.5% (or about 28-to-1).

So I suspect OP is correct if he means flopping exactly two pair.

I really love this account.

11-14-2005, 10:55 PM
According to the super system the odds are indeed 48.5 to 1 of hitting a 2 pair. The thing was the question was 2 pair or better. The odds of hitting 2 pair, trips, full house, or quads is 3.47% or about 28 to 1. So if you are going to call on the SB, it isnt correct with unsuited, far away cards you do not have the correct odds to call. But with a J3s or 47o, you might just have correct odds to with a lot of limpers.

I think that coach approval poll is the funniest thing, because it shoots up every time the team wins and shoots down every time the team loses. Basically, the casual fan would, if he were an owner, sign his coach to a multi-year extension after every win and then fire him after every loss.

sweetjazz
11-14-2005, 11:10 PM
When you're getting 15-to-1 with a random hand, limping is probably worthwhile if the BB doesn't raise many hands preflop. (Every time he raises preflop, you have to toss your junk hand and don't get the chance to hit your "miracle" flop.)

The implied odds are good. You can sometimes peel on the flop for one more card when you hit one pair on a fairly drawless board, depending where the bet comes from and how passive the players behind you are.

Lastly, the rare times you do show down the hand are likely to help create an image that you sometimes "gamble" it up in pots. That loose image is somewhat better than being a tight player who only pays premium hands.

I'll post this question tonight and tomorrow for no limit

How does one put someone on or smell a set?? I hate it when someone turns a set over even moreso than a flush or straight only cause I'm expecting to sometimes see a flush or straight yet might have to pay them off. I just hate bieng surprised at sets. they are so damn hidden in poker

Also - how do I get better at flopping them?? /images/graemlins/smile.gif just kidding hehe

Russ McGinley
11-14-2005, 11:54 PM
Bad players that check-raise you on the turn on a board that isn't threatening almost always means a set. Moreso when they didn't raise preflop. Like, lets say there's 4 limpers and the blinds in an unraised pot. You have, like KQo in MP and you limped. Flop is K-6-2r. You lead out and a couple of people call. Turn is a 9. Now you get check-raised by a L-P donk. He almost always has a set of sixes or deuces. Or he will have K9. Bad players (ie: loose-passives) don't raise unless they have at least two pair. They may bet out with top pair, but if raised, they will c/c down and hope. If you get a lot of resistance from a bad player, he/she will almost always have a set.

No prob, I use my time during hands that I'm not in (in live play) observing the other players and trying to put them on hands. I'm usually right about 80-90% of the time. It's fun to whisper to the player next to you on the turn what the guy betting/raising has, and then see his reaction when the guy turns over the hand. "Oh wow, how did you know!??!!?"

Tuesday-Friday, the thread gets to be in the Mid-High NL forum, then back here Monday if it's the same limit game. That is until the heads-up tournament happens, and it gets moved over to HUSH (maybe).

Hey guys,

well just got home from my first appearance. How did I do? I'm not much of a limit player. I wouldn't call myself a NL specialist but that sure is my forte.

I thought I played well, a little passive at times but why raise with AK in the BB just to dump it on the ragged flop, just my opinion.

Anyway, I bought in for 2 racks @ 5pm and left with 4 racks @ 9pm, not bad considering I worked at 7 hours today.

Not that I'm barry woods, but hopefully will be there one day.

After the show I got to talk to Bart and Tuck briefly and they showed me their broadcast booth, pretty professional, I was expecting an apple-cam and some graph paper, but they had all the professional camera [censored] in there.

Any compliments, criticisms, feel free to PM me.

later,

surf (Geoff)

That was fun. I'm stupid. I got there at 8PM and got on the list and stood around watching football and finally when I walked over to the table to ask about the next time they'd do this, the lady was like, "Are you Shant? We want to get you in." /images/graemlins/frown.gif

I got to get sucked out on live on the internet which was rad. I made good money in the 8/16 game afterwards so it turned out OK. I got the 2p2 names of the guys who run it so if it goes again next Monday I'll know ahead of time and play bad again in front of you all.

Jason and Zach might come next Monday too.

I was rooting for you not to get suckouted on in that AKo hand. You had to dodge like more than half the deck.

No electronic equipment is allowed on the table and we run on a 5 minute delay to protect the integrity of the game. We can't stop people from taking a break and calling someone to get information about the game but I would think that most people here are pretty observant when they play and it wouldn't take too much to figure out what others hold. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

If anyone is not familiar we stream live cash games every M-F from 6-9PM PT so check the other nights out!

Thanks for watching,

Bart
