View Full Version : Satellites Instead?

Actually reading this e-mail got me thinking;

Do you know you can go on winning multiple entries to the $200K Guaranteed Saturday tournament?
That's right but you must play your first $200K Guaranteed Saturday entry first and any additional entries will be refunded to your PartyPoker.com account.

I often get more 1sts than 2nds or 3rds. The satellites are often filled with fish, who may not usually play STTs or at least STTs as much as the 22s. They seem very soft anyway.

It works out at $24+2 with $215 for 1st and $25 for 2nd. May seem like a good idea, especially before big MTTs, but is there any downfalls?

there will be a huge amount of variance (you only turn a profit if you get 1st) and they dont start all that often.

I figured the variance would be large, but they seem so soft. And isn't $2 rake for a $24 tourny slightly better value than the normal 22s?

The games do not play that many.

The ICM values would be very strange. So "bubble" theory would be quite different to what you're used to. Payout structure 0.895833/0.104167 .. most bizarre.

assuming your not a fish at mtt's the quals are rediculously soft. You do have to keep the first seat though, so you will need to be a good mtt player for it to be a good deal. Also, as said the varrience is much larger, which means lots of crappy days.
