View Full Version : WTF is wrong with conjelco?

Every time I try to load a page on this forum, I get at least 4 dialog boxes saying "Time out while trying to connect to adserver.conjelco.com." Is this just something that we have to live with, or is there a way that we can block content from that server (I'm using Firefox, if it matters, which I'm sure it does).

Download the "Adblock" extension for Firefox.

No kidding. People still view 2+2 with ads? Hillarious.

This drives me nuts and makes the forum pretty much unreadable after I get frustrated. I wish they'd fix it.

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah I had the same problem, it was annoying as hell. Then I switched to firefox with adblock extensions and it was amazing, problem 100% solved.

Mat's addressed this in the Mod Forum. Apparently 2+2 is experimenting with ways to drive the stupid people away from the boards.

Think i found the solution, there was a radiobutton with the option to hide or remove adds, it was preset to hide. I changed it to remove and it seems to work.

Tools -> Adblock -> Preferences: Remove ads

Seems to be working for me. I added the filter *conjelco* and clicked Remove ads.

One would think they would get their act together instead of forcing people to not view the their ads.

Yeah I agree. But this has been going on for months and they never seem to do anything about it. I once had to dismiss 24 little complaints.

Even if they can't dump that adserver, I wonder why they can't make it so that once it fails it checks for the server every 5 or 10 minutes instead of every 30 seconds.

I run Firefox and the worst part is the fricking alerts come up when I'm in other tabs. It drives me nuts. I know they aren't necessarily Firefox fans, but why does it keep going and going even after failing for hours on end?

Incompetence.

We had a problem with one of our adservers today and it wasn't caught by the usual means at our datacenter. I fixed it once I became aware of it. I apologize for the inconvenience. I expect that the datacenter will catch this if it happens again.

As to it happening every day...the first e-mail I received about the problem appeared in my mailbox this morning.

This idea (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=exchange&Number=3870238&p age=2&fpart=all) was so much better.
