View Full Version : KK still good on the turn (no Ace on board)?

What's my play on the turn? Fold given the flop action, raise and check/call the river or call down to the river?

If he hit the flop, the second Jack on the turn likely further improved his hand.

I hate letting the kings go here. If I keep them, should I keep raising or passively call it down?

A read would be very helpful here. Specifically, does he go aggro with draws?

In a blind war, things can get pretty hairy, but Im inclined to call down. I could see him folding to a turn raise too if he didn't have a jack (one of those big laydowns).

Both 3betting and folding are real options if I have an especially aggressive or passive read on the guy. Without a read, I'd probably call down and hate myself in the morning.

why has noone mentioned those 3 little words

"cap the flop."

call down from the turn unless you improve.

I cap the flop...which leads to different decisions on the turn but alas...

and then you can either muck the turn, raise and fold to a 3-bet or call down. I honestly like the first option best unless I know this guy has the ability to be that agressive heads up with second pair and a draw...

Thanks for the feedback. Let me continue the turn play (assume no read on the SB)

Turn: SB Bets, Hero raises, SB 3-bets, Hero ...?

Would you fold right here or still call it down?

My practice has been too cap this flop too, but lately I'm wondering if calling the 3-bet with the intention to raise the turn isn't more profitable? At least vs. an aggressive opponent doesn't it seem like you net an extra 1/2 bet this way when you're ahead? I guess the counter-argument is you lose more when you're behind, but I'd think you're ahead more than you're behind here.

If you raise the turn, i think you have to fold to a 3-bet. This is why capping the flop or calling down are more palatable.
