View Full Version : Heads up when the blinds are big (turbo SNG)

I play ultra turbo SNGs, 10 people, and most of the time when it gets down to heads up, the blinds are huge. Typically one person has 10k in chips, the other 5k, and blinds are either 800/400 or 1200/600. Two questions:

- As short stack (5k), if I'm the small blind, is it all-in every hand in the BB and slightly choosey in the SB?

- As large stack (10k), should I be pushing all-in every hand to put pressure on the short stack? If the short stack is in the SB and pushes, what hands am I calling with?

TIA.

Pretty much, yes.

Take a look at the article by Tysen Streib in this month's magazine.

I just had a game where I came in second (again) so I just want to make sure this was the right play;

First hand of heads up. Blinds are 1200/600 I'm in BB with T9o. I have a little over 5k and SB has 10k. After the BB is put in it leaves me with a tad over 4k. SB raises to 2x BB (2400). I decided to push. Was this the right play?

This seems like one of the times a stop-n-go might actually work, FWIW.

I think getting all-in here pre-flop is probably just barely +$EV vs the range he'll be raising with. Plus you have some minimal FE if he's just raising with trash and/or is an idiot and won't call getting almost 2-1.

OTOH, against people who will fold too often, I'd dump this a good bit of the time and just attack their BB. Save the calls for the clearly +$EV spots.
